Who is Kessler's next opponent if/when he wins tomorrow?

I read that Kessler is promoted to first challenger to Calzaghe's WBO title and that Calzaghe most likely is not interested in fighting Kessler. So, when Calzaghe vacates, Jean Pascal should be in line???

Anyone with more specifics as to whom Kessler might fight next??

If Kessler wins tomorrow he becomes WBA regular champ and therefore disappears of all the other association's rakings. So this fight probably won't happen anytime soon. Pascal will probably fight Zuniga on august 1st.

Kessler's got to fight a top SMW or Pavlik, IMO. He gets one Sartison, but after this he has to get back in with a top contender or champ: Bute, Taylor, Miranda, somebody at that level. And he can't sit around for six or nine months waiting for the next fight.

its all down to mogens palle, i tend to think of him as the danish equivalent to frank warren.

but yeah he wont b ranked by any organisation if he wins the WBA regular belt. so no wbo fight unless its a unification. unlikely.

Exactly. Kessler needs to fight and fight often against top opposition. He also needs his fights to be screened on HBO or Showtime.

If he doesn't, he's just going to be dismissed as another coddled regional champ, which I don't think he is. He's got the talent to be pfp and get worldwide recognition.

Kessler should unify vs. Bute, of course if he defeats Sartison this Saturday. If not Bute, Pavlik or Taylor is the best fight at 168 or Miranda if he wins on Saturday. Froch, Bika, Miranda (if loses but not bad), Wright, Inkin, Pascal and Lacy are also good fights. Or Dawson if he moves down.

Plenty of interesting fights and I expect Kessler the be the king of the division when Calzaghe leaves.

Oh yeah, that's very intelligent, buddy! :thumbsup Kesser was so protected that he traveled to Australia to face Mundine before his crowd, fought another champ in Beyer risking his title in an unification fight and traveled to Wales to risk his two titles vs. Calzaghe before 50.000 fans of his oppoent...

Yep, you can say protected. But in the case of Kesser, it's not the fighter who's protected, but the positive image of the sport. :hi:

I'm not convinced Pascal can get past Zuniga.

I would have thought that too before he fought Calzaghe. It is amazing that he lobbied for years to get the fight with Calzaghe then came into the ring unprepared! At the moment there is nobody else at Calzaghe's level, but I wonder if Kessler will ever face another opponent with no battle strategy.
