He lost every round of the Benn fight except the rounds he dropped Benn. He got hit with a lot of punches from Benn. He was clearly damaged coming into the fight. The McClellan of the first Jackson fight was an extremely good fighter. We know he isn't getting ko'd by anyone that night because he took Jacksons bombs. He's a problem for everyone on that night.

So because he could take a career 154 pounder punches he would take, say, Bob Fosters?

Kessler is the better boxer and has the size to withstand McClellan’s early onslaught. McClellan’s game was somewhat dependent on his size, not as much as a Margarito or someone like that, but still was somewhat reliant on it, which was why he was able to overwhelm guys at 160lbs.

I'm a pretty big Kessler fan. Will never be a Gman fan because of the dog buisness. That being said I think Gman takes him out.

Jackson didn't hit like a normal 154 pound man. His power was very different. Not saying he hit like Bob Foster shot for shot but he was definitely different. Not sure why Bob Foster would be relevant for the discussion? Gman didn't fight at 175 and only fought at 168 once.

Your exact words were "anyone". So I brought up Bob. Not that I think it would take someone of Fosters level to knock Gerald dead.

It's like saying Aaron Pryor had a great chin at 135 and 140 and no one would knock him out... except he was blasted out by someone at welterweight when he did move up.

Not true Tate went 12 hard rounds with Jackson taking his best punches without being stopped a few years later RJJ stopped him in just 2 rounds. Whilst McClellan has a good chin I wouldn't say its impossible he could be stopped at his peak.

McClellan is an unknown quantity going into deep waters in the 2nd half of a fight most of his fights only went a couple of rounds.

Jackson hits harder than anyone from 154-168 pounds. In history.

Foster had great leverage and you have to have him as a harder puncher than Jackson but not by much. That's my opinion anyway.

Jackson wasn't landing cleanly on Tate though. Jackson for all his power was pretty crude. McClellan is not a defensive wizard, hes going to get hit. But walking through Jacksons punches in their first fight and then finishing him with that awesomely accurate and powerful combo is an ATG performance in my book from the point of view of head-to-head. Sure he seemed damaged from the fight and complained of having headaches after the fight. But on that night McClellan is such a huge problem for anyone. Not saying hes bullet proof but he has a fearsome offense and showed an elite chin. That's a problem for anyone.

Just rewatched the Green-Kessler bout. Green dropped a bomb on Kessler's chin in the first round, but he took it well.
The left hook that KO'd green was hellacious.
