Kessler isn't overhyped.....maybe by some fans but hes an ELITE level fighter! He's not the best...Joe is the best at 168, but he has solid skills, great technique and he a cool customer in the trenches. Is he an ATG no....future HOF, yes. Is he up there with Bhop, Joe or RJJ....Hell no!
PAC comes to mind as being more on the "Basic" side. But there is no doubt PAC is ELITE. Kessler is also Elite. Maybe it's expected but he has great success with his "Bread and butter" Combo. A guy like JOE who is a TRULY Skilled and TALENTED fither will adapt and execute as he did.
There's some SERIOUS overhyping of Mundine going on in this thread. I don't need to see Kessler slapping around a B- fighter in Mundine to know he's elite.
I agree with everything you said, at that pt in time it was Mundines best ever fight and showed us what he could do. Mundine fought like a fairy once the pressure was applied, Green applied the same pressure in their fight and you could see it was a totally diff Choc, ppl will say Green aint in Kesslers league and i wont argue but Green still posed the same threat Kessler did ie. a bigger stronger man with good jab, power in his punches and chin. Choc is a much better fighter than back then, some fighters just need confidence and this is one such example. Am i willing to bet my life on a Mundine victory...no, but i will bet my life that it is a closer fight :yep
He is fast. He has developed into a very good boxer and has relied on more than "just his natural ability" Mundine would whoop Mirandas ass
I look forward to Mundine's next encounter with a Peruvian Llama herder, with the climatic point of the fight checking out how many mullets and rat tail haircuts are in the front rows.
He's got decent speed, but that's nothing spectacular. Jones is FAST, Nunn was fast...Mudine...decent. He has developed quite well...I have to admit. But coming in to boxing so late with little to no AM experience it shows! Now....it's still impressive that a guy with little AM background and began boxing in his 20's was able to grab a world title. But he's not a GREAT fighter nor a GREAT boxer. Miranda isn't either but Miranda is a true FIGHTER! He is raw as hell but he'll bring the fight to you and I don't think Mudine is skilled enough to "Whoop his Ass"...Mudine would get KO'd imo!
they would be the bogan green fans mate. I dont know where you get the idea that Mundine has bogan fans, complete opposite
He has done fantastically well ever since he finished his league career and took boxing up yrs ago at 25. I would love to see how far he could have come with an amatuer background earlier on. He may not throw combos but his one punch speed is quick. Well i hope they fight cause im positive he'd beat Miranda comfortable on pts.
i really think that this thread shows the awful americanisation and america centric nature of boxing ... anyone watching these two fighters would know who is a world class boxer and a top class slugger, krisv said that kessler stands to upright and is a typical jab jab right boxer, when very often we can see him countering with left hooks and right crosses and very often coming in with nice combinations, compare this to pavlik who stalks an opponent with no footwork (ivan drago comes to mind) and then unloads a jab jab right, but due to the fact he's american and beat the man who beat the man,he gets all the plaudits when in fact we know that taylor is only a b class fighter, how can you call pavlik elite and not have kessler in the same bracket,it really is crazy.
If it goes the distance Mudine could win! He is definitly more polished and faster....I jsut think Miranda would catch him eventually...But I'd loved to see this fight.!:good
I'm an American and I'm more than willing to say Kessler is an elite fighter. PLEASE don't paint us all with the same brush.
