So Boxrec shows Kessler will be fighting Dimitri Sartison in June for the vacant WBA SMW title (subject to commission approval, and it's not the first time Boxrec has been wrong) - Sartison is ranked 14th in the world at SMW, and his last opponent was Nievas, who went the distance with Mudnine, while Sartison TKOd him in 8. Interesting.
General Forum Kesslersexuals have pretty much told us that this is Kesslers next fight so it probably is. Havnt seen the guy fight but many are disappointed for some reason.
If Boxrec is right, then for the title to be vacant, Mundine must have vacated it, which would mean his move down to MW is definite, I would think. Funny how we hear from Mundine just about every time he farts, but when he decides to vacate his title, we hear diddley :hey
To be honest, haven't seen anything of Sartison, but I really don't think Kessler deserves all the stick he is copping on the general forums. He's an absolutely top class boxer, who's just lost to an out and out champion in a very competitive bout. And in his first bout after his first loss is fighting for a title. Should regain some confidence and get a belt back. I think it is a pretty good move.
Just saw the fight is NOT a stadium fight but a hall fight (Brondby hall is not very big). I guess that's living proof that not even Palle believes Sartison-Kessler can bring out other folks than the usual tramps and vagabonds.
He doesnt deserve any stick at all but thats the nature of boxing fans, one upmanship is always first priority of competiting fans.
Fair enough , Kessler needs to get back into the swing of things and this "Plastic title" WBA regular title **** is one way of doing it , Ideally Kessler v Mandy would have been the obvious route for him after Joe (quiet rightly) refused him an immediate re-match , However Mandy running down to Middle threw a spanner into that one , Sartison though unbeaten as he is isn't really going to provide much of a test to someone of kesslers undoubted class imo. im looking for a Kessler v Bute or kessler v Froch early next year to clear the Cloud looming over the division pending Calzaghe's retirement .
Mundine beating Soliman seems so definite that even boxrec are preparing for the aftermath (he goes down to middle and releases his title) by advertising this as a title fight. Soliman somehow winning would really throw a spanner into the works for more than a few camps.
