from what i have seen of ward,i have to go with kessler the guy is as precise, fluid and technically beautiful as a rolex watch.. now combine that with his strength, chin, heart and work ethic.
I'm going with Ward to pull of the upset...Yes Kessler has the experience but I think with Ward being a switch hitter (meaning swithich from orthodox to southpaw) will cause Kessler problems...Kessler in the pass has shown to not having a back up plan when he cant get his first gameplan to work. Not saying that Ward is like Calzghe but I can see Ward frustrating Kessler and making him fight out of his gameplan which will play right into Ward's hands. Also I've factored in the ring rust or lack of activity on Kessler's part.
Kessler won't need a backup plan. He's bigger, stronger, and just as quick. I like Ward but Kessler will outbox him and possibly knock him out in the later rounds. I'm picking Kessler for a UD.
Coming in with that mind set will get Kessler beaten...I dont care who you are...every fighters needs a back up plan...EVERY FIGHTER!
I'm a little skeptical of this fight coming off on nov. 21st being that kessler has a mandatory he's taking on sept 12th. This will shake off the ring rust, but won'y give him enough time to rest and then train for ward. I see this fight being postponed. As for the outcome, the only live body war has faced is miranda, and although he won the fight it went the distance with some close calls for ward. Kessler is a methodical, smart, and ryhtmic fighter who, lets not forget, was beating joe until the 2nd half of the fight. Ward has done nothing to suggest he has the welshmans skill, will, or ring smarts. I also question wards heart and toughness. He won't be able to dazzle mikkel kessler and just attack him. Ward also isn't that much quicker than kessler, and If kessler can hit Joe with quality shots then he can hit ward. I'm quite posotive that ward doesn't have calz whiskers. In closing, I think that any objective boxing fan who analyzes the careers of both men and studies both fighters strengths and weaknesses has to favor the Dane in this bout.
Too big a step up for Ward. Maybe Ward could become a fighter that could handle Kessler in a couple of years by right now Kessler would do a number on him.
:rofl stovepipe calls Kessler a truly great fighter in the game. Who knew beating Mundine and Andrade afforded you that status!
