Yep all fighters seem to have an excuse. Imo time is still on wards side so he should take the big money left at 168lb and then move upto 175lb at a later date. This would give time for fighters at 175lb time to establish themselves further by fighting one another. :thumbsup
UK has a bigger population than California. Why should he stay in jokeland but calzaghe get **** for it? why should ward get all the trimmings of fighting at home in a world tournament? ****ing biased tournament in favour of an american, suprise suprise. the champiosn of the divison have to travel, but some jumped up network bum gets to stay at home and headbutt his way to victory without a single away fight in a world tournament?
That looked like a slip, but then again we all know who has the weakest punch resistance in the SMW division :yep
My understanding is that the winner of Kessler/Magee has to fight Ward. I agree that Ward has pretty much cleaned out 168 but if people he's already beaten keep winning then rematches are Ward's only option without moving up to 175 (he's said he can't/wont do 160-164). He's under no obligation to travel but it's a legitimate criticism as far as I'm concerned just not a particularly strong one.
Why would Ward want to fight Kessler again, in Denmark or in the U.S.? What does he gain from it? He's already beaten him, and won the Super Six. Kessler hasn't got a belt. I don't think Andre is bothered about unifying the division either, because he's already beaten Froch easily. I think we'll see him up at 175 within the next 12 months. Hopefull Andre Dirrell will come back on the scene with Mayweather behind him. Arran, There's a world of difference between Andre staying at home, and what Joe did. The circumstances are completely different. Andre has the luxery of being American. America is the home of boxing, whether anyone likes it or not. That's a fact! Andre has won the Super Six, he's beaten Kessler, Froch and has the two belts. He doesn't need to leave the U.S. Joe on the other hand HAD to leave Britain. Because he was defending his WBO belt in a weak division, and he wasn't getting any exposure outside of Europe. Hardly anybody knew anything about him, until he was 34 years old. If you're not American, or you don't live in America, you have to move there, or fight there, to make it big. Joe was from Wales, which meant he HAD to go to the States to get big fights in his prime. Andre lives there, so he doesn't really need to fight anywhere else. Regards, Loudon.
Kessler says he wont be a ***** and is willing to fight Ward everywhere, even in Oakland again! Sauerland says they will try to get Ward to Denmark or at least outside Oakland.
It's kind of fun when people says Ward don't need to travel and that he'll win easy anyway. If it will be so easy what's the risk then? Nobody have won over Kessler easy boys!
Why should he? Andre Ward is one of the best fighters in the world, unified and undisputed 168 champion. If Mikkel Kessler wants the shot, he should travel! Would Mayweather have to travel to the UK for a Hatton re-match? Or Puerto Rico/New York for a Cotto re-match? I would like to see Ward go to Denmark for the fight, but he should not "have to travel"
and yet Ward refused to travel to get a belt, making warriors (and the champions) like Kessler and Froch come to him!
If Ward goes up to LHW, he faces the wrath of Cleverly. If he stays at SMW, he has Groves to contend with. He really has nowhere left to turn.
He has more to worry about in Kessler than he does in Clverly that's for dam sure . The wrath of Cleverly
