I remember mentioning a few times on ESB that a lot of the Kessler hype was coming from Calzaghe fans. One of the interesting things about Kessler was that somehow he became even greater by losing to Calzaghe :huh Now Kessler is definitely no bum, but it surprised me to see how highly he was rated even after the Calzaghe loss, and how people were certain he would walk through the super 6. Calzaghe fans won't like this, but the truth is that the biggest win on his resume took a major hit tonight. The Kessler win was a great win for Calzaghe, but it won't go down as an ATG-level win, which pretty much leaves Eubank, Hopkins and RJJ at the end of their careers.
I didn't say Ward beats Calzaghe. I said his resume took a hit because of how dependant it was on Kessler, and how Kessler was prematurely presumed to be a great.
