If Boxing made as much sense as the NBA or NFL we would see something like Kessler/Bute, Taylor/Froch on a big card in Vegas, MSG, or Atlantic City, and then the 2 winners would square off. However, boxing rarely makes sense.
So it is likely that we get these fights in the spring? Wright - Kessler Taylor - Froch Bute - Larsen And then we can have unification in the fall ? Boxing is surely a waiting game!
Froch needs to fight two mandatories after picking up a vacant title. If we assume Taylor isn't going to take up his position as one of them, then that will keep him busy for a while.
I'll be very surprised if Winky actually takes this fight. He turned down $2.4 million and a cut of the PPV revenue for a Pavlik fight, and that was AFTER he claimed KP was ducking him. And then, he pulled out of his so called come back fight. I think Taylor/Froch will happen. Right now there is a lot of posturing and positioning going on, but I bet the fight comes off. Bute/Larsen; not sure. Need more info.
boxen.com site of Mads Larsens promoter Sauerland states that they are in negotiations with Bute. I believe that it depends on how well Larsen do on the 20. december, if they will invest in him or not.
The fight will happen,Larsen will get it.And he is fighting an italian pornstar in december 20th,he is gonna win,no doubt. In march Bute vs Larsen will happen.
The 168 pound division is so stacked with good to very good fighters I would absolutely love to see some kind of all SMW mega-show. Four or five fights between top 10 guys. I'd pay for it. Hell, I'd pay $99.95, and not even *****.
Actually, you know what? **** Winky. I'm all for him coming back and giving it a go, and if he wants to fight in a middleweight title eliminator in his comeback fight, that's fine. Hell if he wants to step up to the plate and get spanked by King Arthur, I wouldn't have a problem with that...he's no less worthy a challenger even after the layoff than Elvin freaking Ayala... But what the **** is the justification for Winky stepping in the ring with the #1 SMW in the world when he's never done ANYTHING at that weight? That's ludicrous. Going up to fight Hopkins (a career middleweight) at a catchweight is one thing...they were just tying up a loose end by making a fight that was flirted with the entire time they campaigned within the same rough weight range. But hell...Taylor and Miranda, IMO (and I'm not the only one) still ought to prove they deserve title fights at 168 (even though they won't have to and will skip ahead in line because they're TV names). Both have a HUGE running start on Winky.
