The Kessler the ol' Radab remembers is a complete Beast, who would destroy anyone around his weight class, anyone other than the impossible Joe Calzaghe I was disappoined with his performance the other night, but i'm sure he was too - and that will fire him up to stop Ward in the 9th
i saw the first 3 rounds, and was quite shocked - never seen the Viking Warrior so tentative ever i guess it's ll too easy to undersay the effect a beating from Calzaghe actually has on a boxers career
He's coming off a bit of a layoff and the other guy was a little awkward and slippery. He probably needed (and wanted) a few rounds to shake a bit of rust.
Here we go the excuses coming in already!! :-D If he gets his arse whipped (not saying he will) it's because he was never the Second Coming to begin with.
what has me so damn confused about Kessler is that you can't put your finger on any one thing that he absolutely does wrong...he just doesn't use it to his advantage either. Take his footwork for example. He doesn't follow a guy around the ring like Miranda did to Ward; Kessler knows how to cut it off. But once cutting off, he doesn't punctuate a flurry. Take his jab, pretty damn good. But it can be taken away and against the wrong style won't work consistantly behind it. A slickster with angles will beat him on the cards especially 9 through 12, who's his first opponent and the most slick in this tourney again?!
That's because he doesn't do anything wrong except the daft tendency to jump backwards and leave a massive hole in the middle of his guard occasionally. It's just he hasn't incorporated things outside what he does very well into his game. Why is that? My guess is he's been with the same trainer all his career and he's become bereft of ideas. I'm not sure how or why, its fairly obvious what Mikkel should have been improving from around the time he first won a world title but for some reason they never decided to expand on his skills.
You know the guy better than any of us do, but i feel he is a pretty much complete fighter. He does everything, and does it well, and with power. I cant see anyone beating him, other than someone very special (ie Joe) This tournament is his to win
Why should he ... play to your strengths and Kesslers magnificent 1-2 ... works ! ... boxings about styles not text book learning .. what Kessler does he does naturally so why take thataway by making him adapt something new .... Frochs another example his hands are low and he gets hit but his jab in particular comes from extraordinary angles the text book would say hands u[p chin in time ... Im a huge Kessler fan and for me i wouldnt want him to change his style . What he does he does brilliantly in my book !
He looked OK to me. It appeared that it took him a little time to find his rhythm and his range but the other guy was a southpaw and fancied himself as a bit of a slickster. As soon as he got into it he started unloading the big shots and pretty much had him in trouble straight away. Kessler's right hand is immense.
Aye. My tv got cut off halfway through the 3rd round so i never saw Kessler land anything of note. You guys are right, he was just finding his way back after a long lay off
After 11 months off.........I thought Kessler looked damn good. Awkward southpaws are never easy to look good against, even if their skills are of a lower level. Can not wait to see Kessler in a meaningful SMW fight again. This tournament really is too good to be true
