Just following the recent theme and logic of some threads on ESB concerning Kesslers defeat to Ward and how that hurts Calzaghe's legacy. I dont agree with the A beats B and therefore A beats B's previous vicitim line of thought. You know the cliché: Styles make fights.
how do you mean another blow? is his credibility weakened by both ward and esb? could this whole thread, and title, be sumed up by 'Styles make fights.' ?
i dont get it! how this ward victory hurts his legacy! calzaghe beat a prime, active, younger kessler to unify the devision at 35 by a fairly wide UD! JC doesnt fight like ward he adapts to each opponent, the fact that people still try to discredit him is pathetic!
the fact that Kessler got beat and by wide UD weakens Calzaghes legacy because Kessler is one of his better wins. If Kessler for instance won the super 6 tournament you would endlessly hear that Calzaghe is one of the best of all time and Kessler given as an example.
I think hes talking about Andrade getting stopped by Bute cause Librado was considered one of Kessler's biggest wins.
People have an itchy trigger finger on this forum. 1 or 2 bad performances and a fighter is either overrated or shot to bits. I think that Kessler's comprehensive loss to Ward is due to two factors: 1) Ward had an excellent game plan and a style that naturally gives Kessler fits. Kessler came into the fight with no game plan (or the wrong gameplan). 2) Kessler had not drawn the right conclusions from his defeat to Calzaghe. Team Kessler has not done the proper adjustments necessary to compete with the very best. His fitness was through the roof for the Ward fight, but his boxing fundamentals and footwork has obviously slipped. This is not due to his inactivity, but because he and his team has focused on the wrong aspects in training. This is entirely his own fault and I don't know if he will make the right conclusions from the Ward fight. Even if he does has he got the time to implement changes to his game before the Froch fight? If he doesn't then I fear that he will actually loose to Froch as well.
You're always only good as your last fight in boxing. All Kessler need is a dominating win against Froch and he'll be back in the fast lane.
True, even tho he "won", Bute couldn't stop thinking about the first Andrade fight and what he could do to improve and get better. He said it during the post fight press conference last night. When speaking to Andrade he said "You made me a better fighter". After the first Andrade fight he moved his training camp to Florida and got world class sparring (Johnson). They worked on specific things they thought would help them beat Andrade. Bute had the right frame of mind. "I'm better then this and I'll prove it." Kessler on the other hand just went back to business as usual. It was enough to beat guys like Sartisson and Perdomo but not enough to beat a world class fighter like Ward.
This is not true. Kessler made adjustments, but he made the wrong ones. Which is probably worse than not making any adjustments at all
Just wait: HE NEEDs TO BEAT THE USELESS BRITISH MUMMY!!! If he can't get past that piece of ****, then he's done!!!
