Just saw on danish tv that Jimmy Montoya has been rumored new headcoach for Kessler, after Kalle Sauerland expressed his concerns about the tactics applied in the Ward fight plus the bad advice and help Kessler had in his corner. Kalle then went on to say that Montoya had been part of a winning team and praised him for that, as if hinting he might replace Olsen who didn't recieve critique directly though.
I know Montoya has been headcoach for Salvador Sanchez II, but I really don't know much about his methods except Kesslers comments about his work with him as assistant coach, which has been positive.
Anyone thinks this would be a good move or is there a better choice for Mikkel ?

I don't follow Kessler well enough that he left his trainer behind when he left Palle? Is that what I'm reading here?

No. he's saying he might replace him now. And I agree that a new trainer should try to work w/ mikkel. Kessler is smart enough to comprehend change, but his trainer might not be able to teach him anything new.

As Kessler himself said it it's also the mental preperation, and he get's to frustrated by fighters who can box, hold or clinch, and fight well on the inside. He needs to accept that first and then he can try to avoid getting in those situations where he's getting frustrated. Montoya might be able to help him more with that than Richard Olsen have.

My perception of Kessler's coach is that he is one of the worst ones at top level. Kessler was not well prepared against Ward. The advices between the rounds were just awful, like in the Calzaghe fight.

I have to disagree. Olsen told him to do the right things both in the Calzaghe and the Ward fight - only Kessler didn't listen. Maybe a relationship for nearly 20 years just is to much ?

One thing for sure - Kessler needs a new HEAD coach................

The thing that disturbed me is that Kessler had no clue how to address Ward's tactics, and neither did his corner. One or two head butts might be accidental and perfectly innocent. Three is questionable. Nine is an obviously intentional tactic. Kessler's corner had no idea how to deal with a guy who operates outside the "text book."
