As Mads Larsen is doing evrything possible to get out of a proposed BUTE-challenge and there´s nobody else out there who dare to share the ring with Kessler (Taylor & Hopkins) I think the chance of a Kessler vs. Larsen fight is in the making.
And I gotta tell you - it´s not a fight Danish boxing fans root for. But Mads Larsen has done a great job getting himself in the spotlight - and Larsen with his good looks, wellspoken and arrogant - had 1/5 of the Danish populatian watching him KO Cocco in december. Thats amazing !
Kessler - goodlooking, wellspoken with a boyish charm appeal even better to the Danes.
So this is a sure money-spinner.
The problem here - as well as in Larsens Bute-challenge - is that the old man is desperate for money and he wants too much for appearing in championshipfights against either of the champions.
And does he have a chance against Kessler ? No !
Does he have a chance aginst Bute ? A little, very little !

Kessler has said in the danish press that he can not see why he should bother with Larsen, since he brings nothing to the table. It would be a totally stupid career move for Kessler. He needs to focus on the US that is what his fans wish and himself as well. If Larsen could get the belt from Bute it would be more resonable with a fight.

However if Taylor, Froch, Bute, Hopkins dont want any part of Kessler and at the same time Dawson, Abraham and Pavlik does not wish to move to SMW and Kessler wishes to stay, then who is left? They might as well make a Larsen fight instead of another Sartison fight.

    Spot on.
Just read in a newspaper, that the Bute - Larsen deal is all for Larsen to sign, but even his own promoter stats, that Larsen wants to much money. Larsen is clever though. As long as Kessler hasn't announce his next fight, Larsen wants to be in the mix. Specially when the next fight for Larsen very well could be the last.
Kessler fight some US-fighter next and then in summer or fall, unification fights against Taylor/Froch or Bute/Larsen.

    (Godt Nytår!).

    Thanks for those news folks.

If Larsen doesn't sign, what happens to the clause forcing Bute to face a Sauerland boxer?

Let's hope that Taylor comes to the fore. Every man and his dog knows that this is the fight that Kessler wants. Every boxing fan on the planet would want to see the no.1 & no.2 SW going at it.:deal

    :good
But whats the problem then? HBO, Taylor, the WBC-belt or some unknown factor ?
Both Taylor and Kessler needs a big fight, and the winner is back in business for real.

Taylor may be waiting for Bute, who seems to be waiting for Larsen. I think Taylor would prefer Bute as first fight against the elite of the division. The winner would then fight Kessler. So, if Larsen says no to Bute, he may think Kessler would be left without a fight and take him. That may be what Larsen is thinking about now. After all, what fight would be more lucrative for Larsen for a last fight?

Exactly as i see it. Larsen bluffs to get the biggest payday. Actually all the contenders awaits it seems. If Bute announce his opponent the rest of the fights fall into place, if Froch announce his next opponent, the same happens. Every body awaits who will play the lead card. Only good thing though. It will soon happens. :bbb

I agree with that. That would be a great fight and Unification to boot. I took a little liking to Carl after reading his interview in Boxing Monthly (UK), and this would be a hard hitting scrap for sure.

Carl's been on Showtime over here, and Kessler on HBO and Kessler's name is more and more popular over here now anyways, hopefully it could be shown in the US.

But if it does, ffs, Showtime/HBO needs to go back to how they did things in the past and air the damn thing at 4 pm over here and re-broadcast for primetime and not disrespect the home land crowd making them wait 'til 4 a.m. to watch thier main event.

Taylor faught nobody worth mentionning at SMW yet, so, take your time calling him #2 on the planet. Don't take away acheivements of great guys like Bute, Andrade and Bika. You have here 3 guys that proved that they belong in the top 5.

Indeed, some great matchups coming on this year,so Happy New Year boxing freaks, talk to you later...
