Manny Steward does wonders with that type of style. No other option but him in my opinion.

Im not saying that the trainer is blameless, im saying that Kessler himself has to take a large slice of the blame. There is a reason that he didnt look bad, it was something that he hadnt seen. Ward and Kessler are the same height but you could tell that watching the fight, Kessler seemed to be a head taller then Ward, and Kessler missed his shots high all night. I think the thing that cause Kessler the most problems was that Ward stayed in the pocket and kept his punches tight, where as in his fight with Cazlaghe he was able to at times counter the wide shots from Joe and was able to get Joe to back up . Ward did back up some, but as soon as Kessler would start his attack Ward would step forward and cause his punches to sail long and wide, those are things that Kessler's trainer shouldnt have had to tell him.

Ward's like a human Swiss Army knife- the man can beat you any number of ways, and I was pleasantly surprised by his discipline (for the most part) and ability to stick with a multifaceted gameplan. Make no mistakes- I was impressed thoroughly by Andre who fought like he'd already had ample title fight experience. I bring up my criticism on Kessler's trainer not to discredit Ward in any way, but to point out what I saw to be a glaring mistake on Team Kessler's behalf.

I respect your opinion, so I'll leave you with a simple question I'd appreciate an answer to: When's the last time you saw a champion look as clueless on the inside as what Kessler did? I ask that because what I saw was a fighter who looked prepared for a boxing match and not a fight, and to me, that boils down to an issue of preparation and game planning.

There is one valid point though. Team Kessler publicly stated that Kessler made the decision to exclude Jimmy Montoya from this fight as he thought Richard Olsen would cut it.

Totally agree that Kessler came prepared for a boxing match and not a dogfight.

Word is, he's ready to sign Roger Mayweather later this month.

Kessler speaks fluent English and he's just looking for an interpreter so he can follow Unca Roja's 'structions.

This would be a mistake. Really, not everyone needs an american trainer and roger? The guy is a fool and relies on Floyd exclusively.

Kessler needs a good european trainer who understands his style, but can teach him to infight and to clinch effectively. I dont know anythign about european trainers, it seems its always that same guy from saurland. it would be nice to see him improve under a european trainer rather than roach, steward, shields, atlas etc etc.

Where are all the good european trainers? This man needs help.

I have actaully seen it alot, and most of the times its a result of the other guy having the ability to adjust thier game and fight many different ways. IE: Jones vs Toney, Correlas vs Mayweather, Lacy vs Calzaghe, Mosley vs Margo, and MAB vs Pac come to mind. And as we saw in the one fight of the ones that I listed that had a rematch nothing changed in the second fight bewteen MAB and Pac. The reason is two fold, one its a style issue. Those fighters are taylor-made for what the other guy does best. Two is if a fighter is a guy that fights really good one way even if he trys to adjust his game it ends with the same result. I truely dont think that there was anything that Kessler could have done to change the outcome of the fight outside of landing a sunday punch that would have knocked Ward out.

I kinda agree. My point was mostly that Kessler could have looked better in defeat :D

To me its dangerous to change a fighters style this late in the game. Taylor was nothing but down hill the second that he changed his trainer and went with Steward, Steward also ****ed up Hamed. However Kessler does need someone that will come in and make him work on getting his head to different levels. Its like a pumpkin sitting on a fence post, a fighter could close his eyes and still land half his shots on Kesslers coconut.

I think that a new Trainer probably could push Kessler's limits. That's what he needs...
