Do you think it's fair to assume that Joe Thomas' 32 round battle with Stanley Ketchel caused irreparable damage to him as a fighter? Up until the Ketchel fight Thomas was doing pretty good for himself, he only had one loss, by decision, and some good wins over second tier opposition. After the Ketchel war he lost his next 5 fights in a row (one of which was to Ketchel) the rest of his career was pretty hit and miss. He was even KO'd by Hugo Kelly, who only knocked out three other people in his 48 total fights. I just find it odd he was able to give Ketchel seemingly all he could handle in one fight, then go on to lose more than he won for the rest of his career. Any thoughts?
BIG DEE HERE= He took a massive beating by Ketchel which ruined Thomas as a fine middleweight. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. KETCHEL AND THOMAS FOUGHT A TOTAL OF 72 RDS OVER 4 BOUTS, I THINK THAT`S ENOUGH TO RUIN FIGHTER.
