Who takes it? Ketchel would have the edge on power, Lamotta would have the edge on skill. This would be a fan's brawl.

I think it'd only be a matter of time before Ketchel's onslaught broke La Motta down.

I'm not a big Ketchel fan, but this is how I see it too. Lamotta was tough, but he really was not much of a puncher. Ketchel was.

It would not do to under estimate LaMottas durability. Remember he was in with Bob Satterfield.

Even so I tend to the same conclusion.

I'm not underestimating La Motta, but Satterfield wasn't nearly as tough or durable as Ketchel. I'm not saying Ketchel would put La Motta away quick.

One vote for LaMotta here. I've seen only two fights with Ketchel, Papke and the fight with Johnson. The really old timers swear by Ketchel, rating him tops.He looked very strong, but crude.... From what I've seen, I think laMotta would outbox him. using a smothering style and a sustained body attack. and get this....avoiding Ketchel's bombs. But hey....who knows?

    LaMotta UD.

He was more technically sound, had a good and underrated jab and most important of all he had the chin to withstand Ketchel`s bombs and the iron will to get in there and fight him in the trenches.

Ketchel while durable, brave and powerful was terribly sloppy and one-dimentional, and Jake would have had a field day with him and his wide, telegraphed punches.

Agreed. LaMotta could probably shake off Ketchel's punches, and handle himself quite well in the trenches. And, even though he wasn't a huge hitter, I think he might very well score a late round stoppage based on accumulation of punches.

Ketchel knocked Jack Johnson down with one blow! Yeah Lamotta's biggest attribute is that he can take a punch, but i'm pretty sure a few of those shots would down just about anyone. Plus i think Ketchel had the speed advantage as well.

in defense of lamotta he always had to drop so much weight that he never really seemed to fight at the top of his game (at least with his SRR fights, havent seen much else). I think lamotta should have stayed at middle-light heavy personally.

IMO Ketchel is one of the hardest punchers ever, not only at 160 lbs, also p4p. But Satterfield was a big one-punch- KO- artist at HW, that´s a big difference...

Btw, Ketchel gets outboxed by LaMotta, I favour Stanley over most MW´s, but not over Jack, like many here said yet, LaMotta had an iron chin and an unbelievable high pace, that would be the difference IMO...

My point was that La Motta wouldn't be able to knock Ketchel out as he did Satterfield, so he'd have to deal with Ketchel and his power for the whole fight. Personally, I don't think he'd be able to.

I think that Ketchel takes this one. Ketchel hit like
a mule!!! Also, Ketchel could take punishment as well.

In addition, Ketchel was a more consistent "winner", in that
he went on stretches of wins, whereas Lamotta was not
consistent. Also, Lamotta had a low KO percentage, so
punching power is a BIG factor!!!

Ketchel would either stop Lamotta late or win a clear
    desision!!!

I like Ketchel a bit higher as an ATG but Lamotta would be one of the toughest fights Stanley had, I know he fought Johnson and Langford but Jake was a tough SOB...Ketchel by close SD or UD but if they fought 3 times Jake would win 1
