Have a look at it, he makes a 100% pure sense. Basically saying Joe Parker wasn't hungry enough for a fighter like Dillian Whyte, and how he's never thrown a punch outside of the ring in his life in anger, where as Whytes been shot, stabbed, numerous street fights etc and how Whyte was willing to do anything to win, bending the rules, making it real physical. He also acknowledges the head clash being a problem, Parker didn't know when he got back to the corner what had dropped him..All in all a very honest interview, and one where it makes me think the blame lies with Parker himself and his mental makeup more than his corner or Kevin Barry to be precise
Kevin Barry is a very good trainer, a change of trainer can revitalize a fighter, but tell me, which trainer is going to let Parker live with them, depend on them, and develop as close as a bond with them as Barry and Parker have? Those that think Parker will ever leave Barry or Higgins don't know Parker. Parker is deeply religious and devout to his church. He's a Mormon. He is a very devout family man and devoted to his family as well. As far as Parker is concerned, Barry and Higgins are his boxing family, his trusted confidants, and he's just as devout. He divides his time between his family in NZ and living with Kevin Barry in Vegas. IMO, Parker needs a break. For the last 2 years, he's either visiting family in NZ, training in Vegas, or fighting in the UK. It's easy for fighters in the US or UK who generally live, train and fight in the same town, Parker is a placid Mormon from boxings no man's land and is on a hectic and exhausting schedule of constant travel. Take 6 months away from boxing completely, spend time with family, move back to NZ permanently, take local fights if he has to, get the passion, desire and energy back that made him such a promising prospect before he started living, training and fighting on the road, on the move constantly all around the world. He's only 26, plenty of time to get to some rest and get the fire back.
he just was never that good, it was their plan all along, they were ibf mandatory to aj a couple years back but they took the smart decision to ignore that and fight wait for an easy title shot, which they got with the vacant wbo shot against ruiz in his home town, they fought fury to try and boost their uk profile which was quite a risky move but they got the W, then they started to annoy aj and hearn with the presser about aj being dropped etc, that got them the fight and they held out for 35% and they got their big pay day, it was the plan all along. The whyte fight on ppv for several million was an added bonus. there wont be any more ppv fights for him so he should retire.
I have no interest in hearing what this creep has to say after his timid protests about the referee in the Joshua fight and his failure to complain about the headbutt KD in the Whyte fight. The only interview he needs is a police interview because god knows he has some skeletons in his closet. He needs his damn laptop seized.
I personally feel that he is deflecting blame on his fighter away from himself. I am not saying it is all his fault but being close to your fighter and letting him stay with you in Vegas is all well and good (all of which I am sure isn't for free) but if you are not improving him and developing then what are you doing as a trainer? I think Parker needs to change things up, maybe Parker has hit his ceiling maybe he doesnt have any mongrel in him, maybe Kevin Barry got him as far as he could... either way i think he need a change and someone else to inspire him.
Rob from boxing social always does the best interview’s he used to be on michelle’s Channel but he left once she came over to live in England.
I like his hairstyle, I like that brushed forward from your neckline look. I think it looks cool, it's like a lid for the top of his head. And don't ignore the sideburns, they are masterpieces.
I think Kevin Barry must be a good trainer to get parker this far and parkers a good fighter. But the blame is on Kevin Barry and higgins imo. They knew whyte was like that going in. The fight didn't change anyone's opinion. Why then make the fight so soon after Joshua. Kevin Barry's too close to parker to be an effective corner man. There's nothing wrong with staying in his house etc. They get on well. Parker has respect for him. Barry likes him so much tho he doesn't want to give him a bollocking when its badly needed at times. If its a case of parker having little fight in him...why then not even attempt to motivate it out of him in the corner between rounds. Kevin Barry lacks modern heavyweight experience...had parker trying to box on the back foot. Parkers reach is one of the shortest around. Its pretty obvious the much longer reached whyte would have caught him on the outside. Parker needs to be bulked up with muscle similar to what whyte done for this fight. Learn how to fight as a bigger man. Push guys back. Get inside etc. He's naturally pretty strong with fast hands and has a good chin. Get him bigger and stronger. Forget about pretty boxing. Give him the tools to fight rough. He's undersized in comparison to a lot of other heavys for a dogfight. You can't complain about lack of fight in him...when he,d lose the fight by being a stone lighter...and a little bit undersized in general a lot of the time. Give the kid a chance...bulk him up and slowly learn him to fight like that. That's what they should have learnt from the Joshua fight who knows if they did but just didn't have time to implement it. But don't put it down to lack of fight. Parkers been fighting for years successfully...there's plenty of fight in him. They,ve just not giving him the tools to compete with the modern heavyweights or beat them anyway.
STAMINA is Parker's real problem. He looked far more dangerous when he was lighter and lasted better.
Funny no one mentioned the person really responsible for what happened That darn ref!!! I hope he got a nice secret brown envelope from the Whyte camp. What he let Whyte get away with was CRIMINAL Not one warning for Whyte. Whyte & Andre Ward fight DIRTY yet get away with it Everyone knew Joseph Parker was going to have the dice loaded against him & we were right they were When will we ever see a FAIR On the Level fight with the better man on the night getting the win Again ????? Not any time soon
No Barry is stand up guy. The interview is worth listening to, very insightful and breaks down Whyte being nothing more than a mutt beautifully.
