For 'personal reasons'. Most likely lack of medals.

EDIT - seems to be saying that he put in a resignation request back in July actually, but it's only come into effect now.

Yes, took over after Edwards was sacked. One of the guys who decided on the sacking actually, judging from the earlier Beeb article.

I still cannot understand why they insisted on removing Edwards from his post.

    Probably never will :nut

Who is it that stops amateurs from mixing with the pros in the gym?

No-one can. Stupid decision that's ultimately come back to haunt them. Maybe Edwards might even get his job back. This mess could have been avoided. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' are my overriding thoughts on this debacle:conf.

If I were him I'd tell them to get ****ed.

Consistently high medal hauls at major championships and a steady stream of good fighters turning to the pro game indicates a job well done in my book.

I'd have actually given him a promotion and have him look at the entire set up, including the recruitment of new coaching staff.

It's not as if there is a shortage of potentially 'useful' people in and around the sport, both pro and amateur.

He could have been the man to oversee their integration into making the setup a real success, just like the cycling team, whooping everyone it seems.
