Exactly. There's alot of global revenue coming in here between Khan and Canelo, which allowed them to put this on with a much lower breakeven point than other PPV's would have. Let's not forget Canelo's lucrative Mexican TV deal, either. He can afford to take smaller cuts of the PPV pie (he did this against Cotto as well) because he's got a lot coming in from other sources.
Well rather he's carrying on the 3 year long tradition of holding the WBC title hostage at a CW. And he said he won't be fighting anyone at 160 while he's fighting at Canelo weight too.
If we are honest to ourselves, any number released by these sources is nothing but speculation as HBO doesn't give out the numbers.
True- it is difficult to iron out an exact figure. What I can say with some confidence is, at any of the figures we're using to build a possible range, the event made money. Because of the exceptionally low (for this level of fight) guaranteed purses, it would've only taken about 90,000 buys to cover them.
So the huge Mayweather v Canelo ppv numbers were down to Canelo. C'mon haters do tell us how Floyd had nothing to do with it.
I wasn't aware we were arguing, amigo. That'll be that feisty red head temper of yours flaring up again. :yep
You're a moron and I'm too for wasting 30 secs of my life on you.. Good luck Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
I want to hear Amir Khan's opinion. He will likely tell the world how this proves how bigger than Mayweather he really is.
That's about right. Think about the top selling PPV stars before the Floyd/Pac era. PPV buys for non Heavy weight bouts were between 300K and 700K. And the only non heavy weight hitting the 700k mark was Oscar. Guys like Hamed, Tito, MAB, Vargas, Mosley ect...would sell 400k in a PPV fight and it was considered a huge success. DLH broke the status quo, then Floyd and PAC took it to the next level. Nelo is popular.....but no where near the level Floyd and PAC created and sustained for the last 7 years.
