But that's partly because FLoyd and Pac fought in an era with some decent name fighters, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, Marquez, etc.

Canelo does not have that luxury. Only big fight he has available to him is vs GGG and he's not even pulling decent PPV numbers.

Floyd and Pac proved with their last fight that to make a big PPV card you need 2 big-name fighters.

PPV is a dying business model. I expected around 500k buys and that looks like about what we got. It isn't an awful number. No sane Boxing fan thought this was going to do 800k or 1M buys.

It was a handpicked fight at a catchweight.

the 97k number isn't from HBO either. Don't even know when they made official numbers publically available the last time.

Measuring Khan's purse demands against Berto's? He definitely was.

Been saying it on here for ages now, Khan is not a PPV star, I'm just glad we can all finally see that.

You guys don't understand. People didn't watch Floyd because they loved boxing - they watched it because it was a cool thing to do. There were more justin Bieber fans buying his ppv than boxing fans. It was THE event to have running in the background on that evening, while caMera focused on the stars in the audiences.

Canelo isn't dating a pop star sensation, he is not bringing celebrities to his fights and he is not a social queen. His buys represent hardcore mexican fans that wanted to see him bet up an over matched opponent on their national Holliday, and given that, 460k is a good number.

GGG's 150 is all boxing fans, no hooplah

Not sure why some of you think Canelo only has Mexican fans.

Real Mexican fight fans have disowned El Pollo As my friend Jesus eloquently said " Mexican fighters have cojones of steel
but Pollo has acorns of jello

So you're disagreeing with the other poster and claiming the opposite?

Which is, close to half a million non-Mexicans fought the Canelo fight:blood

And you don't only claim to know Margarito but you also know Jesus:lol:

You have to admit that Floyd/Pac went down as smooth as a glass of expired milk.

Canelo is now the B side. The Arena wasn't even sold out against a star like Khan. Golden Boy better make the deal.

He was. All his sales didn't help boxing, they helped HIM.

And now he has left a legacy of spoiled divas, overly marinated fights and a standing record for the worst fight of the century. Same with pac of course, they share the blame.
