You can't deduct donations if its not a 501(c)(3) charity and I'm pretty sure Genaro's family doesn't have a foundation set up. This makes Floyd's act a genuine act of charity, not just a tax deduction.

For 800 dollars or less he could have set one up very easily.

You're assuming too much. Floyd won't get the sympathy from the public no matter what he does. He does well as a villain and doesn't need stunts like this to sell fights. I think you are wrong about this, and sometimes things are about more that just boxing and fights. It's about being a human being. Some of you act like Floyd is some kind of monster incapable of doing good, unless it's for a purpose.

I'm quite sure there were someone close to Floyd of maybe a relative in Michigan died when he went on vacation but how we didn't hear a single word of his PR MEN that he paid all expenses? It's timing is very suspect couple with the fact that he has an upcoming fight :deal

Maybe because Floyd's childhood friends from Michigan or relatives didn't achieve something that brings them fame/recognition like being a boxing champ the way Genaro was?

i think floyd realize if hernandez didn't give floyd his title shot he would not be where he is today. the hernandez fight was part of his road to sucess and you ought to remember the people that helped you get to where you are. i believe hernandez was not broke until he had this terrible disease. it was the cancer and the insurance not covering the treatment that caused him to be broke. he wasn't a multi millionaire but at least middle class.

Much respect to Floyd for doing this. Very glad to hear a fighter giving back to another fighters family in a time like this.

R.I.P. Genaro, you were what being a boxing champ was all about.
