But if not him, who is the best HW America can produce? Despite how emotional you got reading the title, the question is still on and completely legit: is Kevin Johnson, a seemingly skilled guy with a solid defensive skills and a quick jab, unbeaten entering this fight coming off a somewhat impressive win over US amateur standout Vargas, is the best HW America can produce, or is there anyone else out there? I might add "HW" to the title.

Why are you even asking this question if you know the answer? Everyone knows america ain't got any elite fighter at HW, this is not new.

Americans do the overwhelming majority of trash talking, second guessing and spin doctoring. The become indignant when a comparitively small percentge is hurled back at them.

I am also an American who loves his country. However; I am not exactly thrilled with the current direction/landscape.

Notice that those who claim everyone is supposed to like American fighters are for Haye? Haye is not American citizen.

    6'7 84 inch reach.

And if you dont know who Eddie Chambers is you dont follow boxing.

I remember reading that the vast majority of ranked heavyweights are American. So the Klits cant fight forever, so there will be an American heavyweight champion in the near future. However doesnt mean he heavyweight division will ever be exciting again. They are simply getting to big.

I don't believe Kevin Johnson was the best American heavyweight out there. I didn't think so before tonight, and I don't think so now.

That said, amongst heavyweights, the Klitschkos are head and shoulders above the rest.

Deontay Wilder is only a prospect who has fought a couple of 4 rounders against the most limited of opposition. He could become a very good fighter or an average one. His physical attributes are only part of the equation.

I also find most elite American boxers to be boring with the major exception being Shane Mosley. Guys like Hopkins, Mayweather, Chad Johnson are the proverbial cure for insomnia.

Its clear then you dont enjoy skill. The reason they are on top is because of that said skill. Go watch bum fights on youtube or UFC. If you cant appreciate these guys in the ring, boxing is not for you. Must elite boxers will be more boxer then brawler.

Cure for insomnia? They don't have the most crowd pleasing styles those three, but they are damn fine technicians and I always enjhoy watching them fight.

I believe Andre Ward is another guy who will soon be put in that same category as Mosley. He's an outstanding fighter with an exciting style, too.

Was really a rethorical question Rummy. But Johnson did show some skills previously and international/US media did pick up the fight following Johnson's prediction that he'd bring back the title, and did ask the same rethorical question whether he can do it. So with people saying anyone can do better than Arreola or Chambers who'll most likely get KO'd, I think it's a legit question.

This is clearly not the finest moment for American heavyweight boxing.

Somewhere down the line, I'm sure there will be another great American heavyweight. Until then, I will enjoy watching Andre Ward clean house in the Super Six.

Deontay Wilder is a very interesting prospect, no doubt! However I cannot get the image out of my head of him getting starched in the USA-Russia dual meet by a 195 lb fighter who was not even good enough to make the Russian traveling squad.

Granted Wilder was only fighting for two years at that point and that result probably has no real bearing on his present developement. Unfortunately for ESB's overwhelming contingent of American jingoists, Eastern Europe with not relinqish it's strangle hold on the heavyweight division anytime soon.

No need to kill the messanger, you can always find solice in your precious NBA and NFL.

Just be thankfull that Aleksandr Ovechkin took up ice hockey and not boxing.
