This fight is a double edged sword. If Kingpin wins then he'll move onto bigger and better things. If he can't defeat Solis then there's really no point in ducking the entire heavyweight division hoping to land a big money fight that's never going to come anyway.

People on these message boards make all kinds of claims. If Solis had an invitation to fight Wladimir Klitschko then he probably wouldn't be fighting Kevin Johnson. Do you have anything to back these claims of yours up?

Kingpin is a huge underdog against Solis. Solis team got Kingpin so their man gets a solid win on his resume and closer to another title shot.

Of course this is a huge chance for Kingpin, much like Thompson vs. Price, but the odds are stacked against him. Solis is a much better boxer than Fury and Fury easily outboxed Kingpin. I expect a landslide decision for Solis.

It depends on their conditioning. With perfect conditioning, KJ would have done better vrs. Fury.

If Solis is fat then Johnson might wear him down with the jab. Johnson has a shot if he's in shape and Solis is not. Otherwise Solis UD is likely.

Solis taking this fight (and agreeing to fight Takam also) indicates he's in at least decent shape.

He'd been mentioned by K2 as a potential opponent leading up to Wlads last 2 voluntaries.

Either Solis wasnt prepared for the fight, or Oner felt more $$$ was in order. Either way, K2 was prepared to entertain the idea of a Solis vs Wlad fight on more than one occasion.

IMO, that means that Wach, Pianeta and Mormeck, all of whom were lower ranked than Solis, got that fight b/c Solis was one of a dozen guys who turned down the voluntary.:deal

Exactly, why do people not respect that Solis suffered a genuine injury and was not knocked out in the 1st round.

If I'm not mistaken, this fight was in the works years ago, but fell through. Would be good to finally see it.

Solis is soooo out of shape. Real shame for a fighter with his skill set to constantly work against himself by not showing up in peak condition. The knee injury did not help him in this regard.

I think this fight is up for grabs, tbh.

EDIT: looks like SOLIS is in the gym working out and getting in shape (per Tyson86-88's link). That's a really good thing for him to do.

Only he was knocked out a punch landed which caused him to go down and he then hurt his leg. Don't act like he just went down on his own. Fight video says otherwise. Solis has no Chin. None.

Daily reminder that obese Solis barely made it through a fight with Leif Larsen.
