C'mon, somebody take a chance and face this guy. The new guy in the HW division , I think.

Kevin Johnson recently turned down a fight with Eddie Chambers for the USBA heavyweight title.

Chambers will be fighting Raphael Butler instead.

 He was almost beaten in his last fight already.

Kevin Johnson is an entertaining guy outside of the ring and is likable in a jokey kind of way, but he has too many flaws to even be considered on the same level as someone like Eddie Chambers.

He'll get his shot, it's the heavyweight division we're talking about. Six KOs in 19 fights is pitiful though. The last half of the fight against Terry Smith was almost unwatchable.

I think that Kevin Johnson is overrated. Did you see how he struggled in his last fight with Terry Smith? I would give Brian Minto a good chance of beating him.

He is exciting outside the ring with his mouth that's for sure.
But in the ring he doesn't bring much entertainment to the table.

kevin johnson is way better than eddie chambers i am sorry. And if you are basing this off of eddie vs povtekin (you know that guy that has been in your avatar for awhile), sorry but johnson destroys povetkin easy. He is got a better jab and way better defense than eddie. Oh and did i mention eddie was making povetkin look like a fool in there?

    Johnson goes alright.

With his jab, size and above average D he will be hard to knock off fighting the level of guys he has been. But the Smith fight showed he really hasnt got much else except the above mentions attributes.

As soon as he steps up he will is getting beaten, guaranteed. He has shown little improvement since the Hawkins fight, which is the fight I sat up and took notice of him. He is a fighter with no imagination, no plan B and either a small kit of punches or lacks the confidence to use them.
Someone pressures him enough and takes his jab away he will crumble.

I first saw Johnson in his last fight at FNF. Not impressed. He was supposed to have a lightning fast jab, well, it's not that fast. Eddie Chamber's hand speed puts his hand speed to shame. And Johnson isn't the type of guy who can put together combinations very quickly like Chambers because he's so darn big. His arms are huge.

He stated that he is holding back until he fights a top HW in order not to tip his hand. Maybe he is a lot better than what we've seen but i doubt it. The guy is a specimen though.

There's nothing impressive about Kevin Johnson. The guy is going to wind up being a journeyman.

Johnson and some of his fans act like he has a Larry Holmes jab or something. Far from it. He' s jab isn't all that good. He flickers his jab. Larry Holmes's jab was very accurate, stiff, and had some thunder behind it. KJ's jab is poor mans version of Larry Holmes.

What else? Below average work rate. Throws one punch at time. Doesn't have anything on his punches. Lousy defense - keeps his hands so low he opens up himself to any decent fighter with quick hands. Perhaps that's why he didn't fight Eddie Chambers.

What other flaws do I see in Johnson. Oh yeah, his attention span in the ring is poor, i.e. flirting with the ring card girls, talking to the crowd, etc. That **** is going to get him knocked out.

Sad to say KJ is another American heavyweight that couldn't make it into pro football and decidedly chose boxing as a last option to make ends meat.

i think see my flow anylysis is correct.

his low workrate and lack of combo`s when combined with lack of power is just not going to get it done.

i can see some talent in johnson, but not the mindset to back it up.

for johnson to go anywhere he would have to knuckle down/dedicate himself and try to get the most out of himself.

up workrate/work in fact non stop/dont take rests/fight to his limits.

instead i see a fighter who wants to just do what is enough to win, and johnson does not have the talent to do that when he steps up a level IMO.
