Have you ever seen Johnson, Odo ?

Besides Ibraghimov Johnson fought Robert Wiggins early in his career and Wiggins was a tough opponent to beat back then, ask Monte Barrett and Davaryll Williamson, i´ve seen both having huge problems with the tough Wiggins. And then you have to take into account that Johnson didn´t have a huge amateur career, as most of the eastern european prospects have. He started late with boxing and for that short period he is doing very well. I would be interested to hear, why you think of him as a C-class-fighter. So far he has beaten anyone convincingly, with the exception of Timur Ibraghimov, whom he drew with. That was Johnson´s 4th fight as a pro, Ibraghimov was in his 13th and had a good amateur background. I think that´s somewhat impressive and no sign for Johnson being C-class.

BTW i would be really surprised if Vitaly will stop Johnson in the first 2 or 3 rounds. Not that i favour Johnson, but actually he has a bigger reach than Vitaly and Johnson is known for a great jab, will not be that easy to deal for Vitaly as Arreola was. I tend to think that Johnson could be the first since Timo to go the distance with Vitaly.

And I think it might be much different with a guy not coming forward constantly and Vitali easily stepping back and knocking him around as the guy walks into him. I just don't know if Johnson is going to be trying to walk down Vitaly. I still think he'll probably get stopped. But upsets by definition have to be surprising!

he has got a lot more power than his record suggests, but Vitali will beat him. i honestly think that Kingpin will become only the second guy to go the distance with Vitali, but still lose, maybe a shutout

Kevin: On his lack of amateur experience:
“If you know me and you do your research on me, you would know I have the best amateur background that anyone else would dream to have.”

Boxrec on amateur Kevin: Johnson claims a 14-2 record as an amateur and was a New Jersey Golden Gloves champion. In 2002, Johnson was defeated in the first round of the National Golden Gloves Tournament.

    Boxrec on amateur Vitali:

1995 Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist at the Military World Championships in Ariccia, Italy.

1995 Super Heavyweight Silver Medalist at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany.

Amateur Record: 210 Fights, 195 Wins (80 inside the distance)

I wonder if Kevin was joking.

He may very well win it on defense and counterpunching alone.

There are a couple ways to beat Vitali. The way Byrd did it (just better), and the way Sam Peter should have fought (ala Brewster vs Golota). Anything in between loses.

This will be a replay of the Vitali/Peter fight with Johnston being a bit more competitive.

Vitali didn't injure himself. He was injured by a punch Byrd threw which landed under the armpit as Vitali was extending for a jab.

As I also stated, do it better. Sanders was able to hit Vitali clean with counterpunches by staying on the ropes and making Vitali miss. Vitali has a big reach and is active and accurate, but if you make him give up his height he becomes vunerable. His last few opponents have stood right in his punching range, which is to say extensive but thats what they did. All the way in or all the way out is how you beat Vitali.

This is usually the gameplan against anyone who is bigger than you. You have to make them use their legs extensively on the outside and take advantage inside of having the shorter arms. Too many of these ordinary heavyweights let the big guy tie them up, and then stand there on the end of his jab.

Is Johnson one of those ordinary heavies? We'll see I guess.

This discussion doesn't matter much anymore because power rarely works if you don't...use it.

Kevin johnson: The epitome of ****

resembles everything bad about the hw division

he did not dissapoint, he continued the run of recent hw title challengers of being awfully ****.

However i do strongly feel that a lot of his power, speed, courage, defense, attack, balls, heart and everything else was takn away from him when vitali took his glasses off. He simply didnt have enough time to recover from that!!!
