    Are you joking? :think

Moses and Katsidis (no one was saying he was shot Pre-Burns) are far, far better wins than a potential win over Mitchell.

Moses was a former champion (only beaten once) and Katsidis had fought at world level for years and had previously sparked Mitchell.

He certainly doesn't need to fight Mitchell but should given the money he'll make and the fact the (I think) Mitchell is his mandatory.

Right lets get things into perspective here..

Martinez was a dangerous champion, Ricky beat him and beat a solid champion in the process. His SFW reign was downright horrible after that, fights against people who didn't warrant or deserve a title shot.

Now up at LW he's fought Katsidis who a fair few including myself felt he'd get beaten by. He won and won well, and then beat a former world champion and still a good fighter in Moses. A lot better then his SFW reign!

If anything i want Burns to be looking for bigger fish to fry. I'd rather see him try unify belts against a Vasquez or De Marco then face Mitchell IMHO.

Mitchell vs Hank Lundy or Bogere and then the winner faces Burns. Meanwhile Burns face someone else in top 10.

Did burns win the title in the ring?

Are people honestly saying Katsidis didn't look shot against burns?

    Who had Moses ever beat?

    No probs mate :good

Whether he was or wasn't shot, Burns had to beat the man in front of him. I don't remember everyone on here saying Kats was shot before the fight.

I be honest i think he was past his best but at same time he was still a dangerous enough and a legitimate test going in!. Burns made it a easy enough nights work. Hindsight is a wonderful thing..

As for Moses, he didn't beat any great or well known names but is a decent fighter in skill set and resume is decent enough for him to be credible as a opponent. Went to Japan and took home the title and TBH would be worth while sticking Murray and Mitchell in with and see how they fair. I'd guarantee it wouldn't be a walk in the park for them. I'd actually take him to beat Murray, and Mitchell well if he performed like he did against Lora then Moses would take that as well.

The point is it's a decent LW reign so far, two fights in he's defeated a former interim champion and a former world champion. The SFW reign i could understand people saying 'not a proper champion'. It was horrendous and embarrassing to our sport. His reign so far at LW has been better, him vs Bogere or Lundy is a better and more dangerous fight then Mitchell as well IMO.

Whether he did or didn't duck Broner, I'm not defending that move i'd like to of seen him fight Broner. Broner hasn't beat anyone of note thus far although i quite like him. Seems a joker and decent fighter although way some speak you'd think he's already a ATG. Burns would of troubled him IMO.

As for Katsidis as i said in my other comment above this, A fair amount on here including myself felt he'd beat Ricky. After i did say and feel he wasn't the same fighter but he was still a credible test for a guys first fight at the weight. IMO he'd of beat some of our other domestic fighters that night. Burns was massive compared to him.

Smart match making and lets face it i bet the others at LW and SFW looked on and were jealous looking back. Smart move by Ricky and his team.

I've seen far worse title reigns at LW, I've seen far worse ducks in boxing as well.

BTW Broners fighting Katsidis left overs, shall we make a thread on that?.

You're quite right, nobody said that, doesn't alter the fact that the guy in there was nowhere near the level he was previously at.

Moses hasn't beaten anyone of any quality, if Cleverly was to get beat now would people be saying he has a good resume, i'd suspect they'd say he fought nobody and got gifted a title.

I'm not a Burns hater, seems a great guy but the minute anything negative is expressed about him you get Nelson having a ***** fit and abusing people, get a grip.

I want to see Burns to unify, against Demarco, would be a good fight. Vazquez would be very tricky.

I hear ya on the Clev point, I think Clev's resume is worse. I go as far as to say he's not even fought a world class fighter yet in his career. Burns has at least faced people who are fringe level. Tony even admitted he's not on level of Hopkins and Dawson. Clev is fighting European title level fights at world level but i take on board your point and you predict the right reaction.

But your right mate, Billy's turned a lot of people from Burns fans into haters. He's not helped the lad even if he is defending facts and truths. The abuse isn't professional but then again Billy's maybe created a us against them mentality that might push Burns on.

    I don't watch boxing anymore.

The total sum of my knowledge on these two fighters amounts to having seen this poster:

That's the only reason there is talk of this fight, if mitchell were some spaniard with a similar record would there be so much talk of him fighting burns?

burns is a better fighter than mitchell, its that simple, what has mitchell done to earn a fight against burns other than be english?

Yes i agree Vasquez would be tricky, Ricky would have to be on the move constantly and keep off the ropes too with Vasquez`s workrate coming at him. Rickys efficient jab and good body shots should help him out though, Vasquez`s style appears hard to nullify. Although Prescott had him down in their fight.
