You can't go past Miguel Cotto. He has youth, power and career momentum on Antonio Margarito - and a better chin. Tony had a classic career start with nine Tijuana tumblers on his log before he stepped up - and lost. He proved better than that down the years, but he's not in the Puerto Rican's class. Cotto on stoppage in the later rounds. and... Although Cotto had an easy time with Alfonzo Gomez last April at the Boardwalk Hall, he has been put to the test in his last five fights. Impressive wins over Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Oktay Urkal and Carlos Quintana has prepared Cotto well for this bout. Margarito on the other hand, had an easy time his last two fights with Kermit Cintron and Golden Johnson. The last time he faced a fighter with power (Paul Williams) it was a struggle. Margarito should have an easier time landing his power shots against Cotto, but Cotto has one of the toughest chins in the business. Cotto TKO 7 - Marcus Henry, Newsday Some people really have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to our sport. How in earth has Cotto ever proved he has a great chin? Why would you expect Margarito to go early, when he took Cintron's right hands and laughed. The man has never been stopped and never looked like being stopped. If he holds any advantages over Cotto it's his chin, Cotto's isn't proven. People say it is at 147, but it didn't look steady against Judah. I'm not hating on Anybody, but saying Cotto has one of the best chins in the business isn't factual.
I agree, i think Cotto will win due to some of the other reasons put forward but saying he has a better chin than Margarito is ludicrous.Where does this guy get his information?
I think Cotto will win because he is the better boxer, but I hope Margarito wins, and he has the tools to stop Cotto. By saying Cotto as "one helluva chin" or "better chin" than Margarito discredits all of the other points they made by showing they have no idea what they are talking about. That's like saying Ken Norton had a better chin than Chuvalo.
I may have been one of the people who thought Margarito winning the second fight with Cintron was obvious but how can you play up a win over Urkal and play down a win over Cintron ?
His comments about Cotto's chin are the major issue I feel. There is no grounds to suggest Cotto has a great chin.
His chin comments probably come down to the fact that Cotto's never been legitamately put down, while Margo has. I'm not saying he has a better chin in anyway way, he gets stunned often but the fact is he's extremely hard to put down once he gets stunned.
They are football journalists who reckon they have a clue about boxing. Does my head in to be honest, but what can you do.
That may have been a futile attempt at justifying these so-called boxing analysts comments, but it was fail in any regard. Antonio Margarito has been down before, early in his career, but he wasn't hurt, evident in how he got straight back up. Antonio has never been wobbled like Cotto was against Corley, and Cotto looked like he was dying on the ropes when Torress put that uppercut in. Beautiful shot. Evidentially, the uppercut is by far Margarito's best punch, so that should make for an interesting factor in the fight.
