Fair enough. I'd imagine the Murray fight would generate more money than the Katsidis one, so to offer him half of that, doesn't seem like a good deal. Ok he ****ed up last time round, but I have to admit, that offer, if true, is considerably low.
Why wont he just take the fight and shut everyone up. If he is struggling now with money issues god help him if his boxing career is over, who will pay the mortgage then. It amazes me with these lads, did he not do a trade when he left school incase the inevitable happens. Its the same with footballers of yester year they left school with the hopes and dreams of becoming a rich and famous sports star only to have their dreams shattered and no fall back as they ploughed all thier ambitions in to football. Is there any clubs out there that try and instill the message in to these boys that if all fails then you must have a backup plan, boxing will not feed you forever. And plus with the amounts of money that these young men are making does any of them have people who look out for it, because there seems to be an ever increasing rate of SKINT boxers.
Im not sure what to make of this ................... On one hand , you have Kevin , who is off a very very dissapointing performance in his biggest fight as a pro , a fight his promoter moved heaven and earth to secure , and we havent seen him since , then there are rumours that he's in bad shape , he wont be accepting the Murray fight as he needs more time etc etc etc . Given this theory , if Team Mitchell take the fight and accept that Kevin is in bad shape but he needs the payday , he should really be happy that he is receiving a pay check and just fight Murray . Then you have to agree that Warren has low balled him , seemingly without a care in the world , 25 - 30K is a low payday for a fight like this , its below the going rate , Mitchell does have a point .
Regardless of whether or not he deserves a bigger payday, the fact is that bitching about it in the media wasn't the way to go. It won't do his image any good, will **** off Warren and is overall a high risk compared to the potential reward.
:blood what? seriously? i thought he cleared it by early november. had some swelling under the eye wasn't it?
You have to wonder what the motivation behind the public outburst is ??? baffling really , what can it possibly acheive for Mitchell
Precisely. Kevin's contracted to many more fights with Warren, so it would surely be more sensible to stay on the good side of the man who'll be signing your cheques for the next 2 or so years. Plus other potential promoters will see this - so if he did fall out with Warren and somehow escape his contract, he'd still have this dark cloud over his head while negotiating with other promoters.
