I'm not saying Mitchell wins but it doesn't take a genius to realise fight wouldnt be pencilled in for London if FW expected most fans to be from Manchester. And remember its easier to sell fights in Manchester which is why Haye's fought there twice. Even with 2for1 offer Haye only drew 5k tops for Barrett fight in O2.

Fair point. Mitchell's just become a right *****.

He's not that ****ing good. Frank's done a great job promoting him and now he want's to behave Billy ****ing bigtime.

Shame his performance was **** against Katsidis, yet the silly **** thinks he's entitled to top dollar when next stepping out.

    ****ing pratt.

I don't really know where I stand on this, I like Mitchell but I can't help thinking that this is the best comeback offer he is going to get. If he was that worried about his financial future he should have trained right for the Katsidis fight, and these days £30k is not as bad as it would have been a few years back, particularly for a non-title chief support fight. I know it is technically a world title eliminator, but we suddenly get a lot of those and they often don't lead to a title shot, it is mostly marketing to get us all to watch the fight. A few people have mentioned that the European title is not even at stake, so Murray should not necessarily get the champion's purse, but under EBU rules Murray will get stripped of the title if he loses, so the stakes are the same for him as if it were a defence. Like Skelton-Rogan a while back, if you lose while champion they strip you even if you aren't defending the title.

Murray would have to vacate as he is not fighting his mandatory Gavin Rees.

£12k for 8 weeks work or 12 weeks if Mitchell is in bad shape.

Not bad money for a guy who has sat on his backside for the last year, injured or not. And he`ll not be paying 40% tax on it if he hasnt earned all year he will still fall into the lower tax rate. Plus he will be able to claim back certain thing from the tax man depending on his tax staus.

Does Mitchell not do anything else with his time when he is not boxing, thats an embarrassing statement that FW has been paying his mortgage.

He should be taking this fight and not pissing off any more people IMO and then see what the outcome is.

£12 for 8=12 weeks work :think... Doesnt work that way, not boxed for nearly a year so obviously not been getting a wage, previous to that in 2009 think he only fought twice at the back end of the year,so realistically a lot of this fight money could well be paying back debt...

type Mitchell Katsidis purse bids you will find it. was $515,000 80-20 in Katsidis favour.

    $103,000 divided by 1.6 = £64,375

Well if it doesnt work that way then how come? Something is going wrong somewhere.

If he made such a packet after his last fight what did he do with all his cash? if the papers are correct in what they are putting out £65k to £85k is not a bad wage for 1 fight. Us mere mortals can live quite comfortably on that kind of money.

It is looking like he has made bad choices with his doe.
If he is looking to his promotor to bail him out after such a big pay day then someone is not looking after his cash correctly.

The thing with Mitchell is he is on a threshold where at the moment he wont be getting massive amounts of money for the fights he is getting but if he were to win he would go into the big time.

If he wants to make a bit of money i would suggest he go for the British then Euro lightweight title stay at home and make defences. A big draw can make big money doing this eg Paul Smith in Liverpool. If he is looking at world glory he cant expect a massive one off payday he has to take alright money in anticipation that IF he were tog et a world title it could be a real money spinner to defend

too many boxers are not professional athletes. they are guys who know how to box, live life and when they feel like earning some money, they book a fight.

you would think that mitchell after his apparently hard stint being injured, would be taking any fight he could to earn some money.
