I read somewhere it was the night before... My bad He was being a veryyy naughty boy in Germany though. My cousin was over there with him (sparring duties) and he said John could barely walk half the time
WTF is this ****. Mitchell can give it the big one all he likes but the truth of the matter is this.............. He's shite, he struggled to beat a very mediocre John Murray (a Murray everyone knows was on the **** weeks before the fight) and will get ABSOLUTELY DECIMATED by Rios. Not even close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rios would murder Mitchell. On the face of it he seems to be just a tough as ****, one dimensional slugger, but he actually does a lot of subtle things which help him slip shots and give him room to fire off his own. I really rate the guy.
I dont think you can compare the two. Sure, they arent as different as say Pac and Floyd, but they are still different on so many levels. Rios hits much harder, is quicker, has much better ring IQ, has beaten better opponents, and has much better defence than Murray. I didnt see him struggle against Murray. I saw him get hit with two bigs shots in the 2nd, and come back to comtrol the fight. While Murray had him on the ropes, he wasnt hitting him with anything clean at all
I think Mitchell on his day is competetive against anyone and you can't overlook his obvious skills and superb technique. I am not going to pretend I know more than jack **** about Rios so can't comment about a bout between them, however I'd be supprised if he had a real easy night against Kev.
I would agree with that. Jim Watts coverage made it seem like Murray was in control while to me it looked the opposite.
I'm not saying Murray was controlling the fight but he clearly had his moments where he had Mitchell hurt and on the backfoot, and it was far from an easy nights work for him. So if he's nothaving things all his own way against mediocre opponents like Murray then when he's hurt against the likes of Rios he'll STAY hurt. Edit: Oh yeah Will i didnt listen to the coverage as I was there and havent seen it back pal :good
Rios is still just a brawler, a good boxer mover will angles would give him lots of problems. I am not saying Kevin is that man, shame Khan is moving upto 147 after Peterson or he would give this Rios a beating. Gerrero would also beat this guy, as would Bradley, I think he beats Alexander and would have a real war with Maidana. When he steps to 140 we will see how good he is.
Murray is generally mediocre as you put it because of his defence not his offence. Mitchell got caught by a decent offensive fighter and coped pretty well. His footwork was excellent and fighters that have decent footwork generally get on in fights better than most people think. Barker against Martinez would be an example.
He's a bit more than just a brawler. Fair enough he come's forward and is tough but he can box too, move around and can take pretty much anything threw at him. If Rios make's the step up to 140 and is comfortable, i'd see him as a handful for anybody, including your beloved Amir Khan
Bit of a fabled triangle theory that. Rios and Katsidis have different styles. We were all disapointed with the Katsidis fight but then we all know that Kevin undoubtedly had problems.
