Mitchell has always had range problems and can't throw straight punches without leaping in and leaving his his head in the air and vulnerable to counters. Estrada looks as mediocre as anything but he's rangy, and has a decent skill set but with that typical Mexican hardiness. I can see him catching Kevin at the midway point and things coming crashing down for Mitchell again. He may be more mature and seasoned but he seems slower than ever. Which could be dangerous for him because I think he will try and draw Estrada onto him as that's the only way he can catch him with his hooks. To do that he will need good reflexes and head movement, which I don't think he has. Never know, he might surprise, but that 9/4 on Estrada could look very big after the fight.
People Need to remember kev only sparred billy jo leading up to burns fight now look who he's sparring daily now and that's why he left Tibbs
Can there ever be a Kevin Mitchell thread without us hearing this " prepared " and " fit and focused " nonsense, he's a limited boxer.
I worry for Mitchell, it has been said before on here and said on Ringside this week but it is true, the two biggest fights of his career he has got stopped, the pressure does seem to get to him. Also the point that JMM and more importantly Nacho have come all the way over here for this suggests Estrada and his team are super confident. There was also claims Estrada didn't train well for his last fight but he still put in a very dogged performance, now most fighters who lose claim they had difficulties before the fight they lost but the fact he has gone straight back in at eliminator level and away from home speaks volumes to me. I want Mitchell to win but more importantly I hope whatever happens we do not see a terrible stoppage or a Matchroon scorecard. Just got a gut feeling though Estrada wins and wins well.
FFS Johnny Nelson Not sure he's pronounced a word right so far. "His dedicuation has been equestioned"
The question mark against Estrada is that he strikes me as bit of a bottler as well. I said he had that Mexican grit but when I look at him fight he seems to be an exception. He seems unsure of himself and doesn't pull the trigger enough from range and when he does he never follows up. Can also see him folding late on if Mitchell starts landing heavy shots. Estrada can win this easily on points if he just believes in himself. Mitchell's volume is woeful.
Fair points :good I think Estrada having Nacho and JMM in his corner might just give him that lift and the belief you have questions about. I think Estrada could actually stop Mitchell, with respect if you are getting stopped by Burns you can get stopped by any solid LW.
It really pains me to say as much, and more so given the big game tomorrow, but you're absolutely spot on. No dissrespect to Ricky, but being stopped by a so called feather fister is the ultimate insult. Kevin has loads of natural talent and technical ability, but he's had far too many YES men around him, and he's suffered because of this. No discipline and now a serious lack of self belief will only result in one thing. Crolla would stiffen him within 8 rounds imo.
I was just looking at the Maduma stoppage again. Could you get a more bent and suspicious end to a fight? Mitchell barely punched him and all of a sudden he can barely stand upright.
