He was a literally last minute opponent after the other replacement failed a blood test.He was also top of the bill. What was you expecting with a LAST minute sub?
Although it was rumoured apparently Aryeety didn't fail a blood test but he failed a routine medical. Very difficult to find yet another opponent at such short notice - its a sad fact of boxing when fighters pull out for one reason or another and seems to be a spate of them at the moment with Mitchell, Khan and Lynes all having to find replacements.
Cant get too much slack, it was a last second sub, had to be done. Sounds like a walk in the park for Mitchell, Id like tosee him on the Enzo-Haye undercard, its the time to see how far the kid can go.
Not really harsh at all, just my opinion. Based on i've watched hundreds and hundreds of fighters over the years in the UK, and although he is a skillful, compact little fella, he simply doesn't have that little bit extra. Every fight i've watched of his, his punch accuracy isn't great. He may hold the WBO belt at some stage, but thats as far as that will go (in my opinion). I like the guy though, good personality.
I agree. Even when Torres was standing there, hands down, many of Mitchell's punches were very inaccurate. You can't blame the lad for the lack of progress in his career, but a real step up in class will be difficult after having 25 fights without an opponent of note on your record. Johanneson would have been a step in the right direction, but if that doesn't happen on the Haye-Mac undercard, he should try to get a fight with Foster Jr. or AAA (unless he's fighting Guzman :rofl ). Didn't FW say he was going to arrange some great domestic showdowns between 126 and 135?
True, and the South American on face value looked as if he had good head movement and mobility, whereas it was more the fact Kevin's poor accuracy could only pin a third of his shots on Torres's stagnant head. I remember Warren saying that, think it all started going downhill for him on that when Cook lost to Leuvano though. Still, I don't believe he will put his 'prized' UK fighters against each other until he has fully milked them for what they are worth.
Potential to be a P4P'er no doubt, but theres a reason why he is being paired with non-punchers. I see his true potential being fulfilled at 140, where he can be a world champ. Needs to ditch Harrisson though.
Fair play to mitchell he did what he had to do. Great news that hes fighting Johnaneson on March 8th. Get more Londoners in for Haye support. i do think hes big problem is his accuracy, other than that very quck and powerful and we know hes got a good chin and decent defense. If he went in there with someone really quick like Guzman would get schooled. Vinny did well to get up of the mat, be intresting to see what he does in 2 years time.
I've never rated Mitchell, he's fought a bunch of nobodies. Not his fault on this occasion. I don't see him being a player on the world stage. Hope I'm wrong.
Who he fights is not really his fault. The next year should give us the greatest indication of how far this kid can go. He will be matched higher this year. So far I have seen nothing to suggest that he could not break the top 5 and fight for a world title belt.
