I only caught just the short highlight of Skeete there during the end credits; it looks like he scored a glove-touch knockdown? He carried his opponent the distance, though...

    Quality performance overall?

he just out boxed him, he did not show any killer instinct whatsoever, he said he hurt his left hand?:dead

he showed good skills but maybe lacks power

I agree that Mitchell boxes well against Rios but gets stopped eventually, he's too fond of laying on the ropes. Mitchell and Burns is a 50/50 fight IMO, and if Kev wins I'd love to see Burns vs John Murray.

Burns would fair no better with Rios, as he doesn't have the pop to stop Bam Bam from charging.

He was clearly outboxing the guy, but didn't commit to his punches when it mattered. If he went after him he probably would have stopped him, but I guess he watched too many Floyd fights

i feel mitchell losses a UD to rios but he does have the pop unlike burns to get rios' respect

All this talk of pop is irrelevant, cast your minds back to the Martinez and Katsidis fights, burns was given little or no chance because he apparently didn't have enough power to gain there respect.
Burns would work Mitchell's game plan out in the first 4 or 5 rounds,i'd make Burns a clear favourite (UD) in a competitive and entertaining fight.

There are some very valid points about Burns here.I felt for a long time that even though I think Ricky can and will beat fighters who are better than Mitchell,KM presents a whole new set of difficult problems for Ricky.Burns fares very well against come-forward fighters, and Kevin's short leads would force Ricky into an unfamiliar game plan.I even thought for a while KM might beat Ricky, but I admit I was a fan of RB before he became a world champion for reasons that didn't have a lot to do with astute boxing knowledge.I was just fortunate that he went on to become very successful, far exceeding my original expectations.
Now I'm convinced Ricky could beat Mitchell, perhaps even soundly. He responds superbly to adversity,he has a superb tactical mind at his side and he fears nothing.
I know Ricky will never threaten the elite branch of the tree, but I would never bet against him unless it was a ridiculous match up.
I have always liked Mitchell, but he is his own biggest enemy. He has a sublime talent, and I find his style very agreeable.
But Ricky will have enough IMO,even if it's closer than I stated it could be.

I think the fight comes down to the real basic stuff.
Mitchell must train hard and have the gas for 12 competitive rounds.
I'm curious about who'd be the bigger guy, and who'd have the quicker hands, I also see it as who ever establishes the jab wins the fight. (Maybe that's over simplified) Met Ricky Burns twice and he's a great bloke.

:deal:goodYou know I've met fighters who had less than ten fights with losing records who strutted about in gyms thinking they were superstars.Ricky Burns is the most humble, down to earth and downright amiable talented boxer I ever encountered at a gym.Billy Nelson is exactly the same.I really am genuinely pleased for them.I've seen a lot of resentment for people who do well, but these two richly deserve it,and I admit I will always probably be biased beyond reason when discussing them,a phenomenom I only experience when discussing football (soccer) in my neck of the woods.

Ricky is a big man at the weight,he'd have a height and reach advantage over Mitchell. He may not be a devastating puncher, but he's very accurate. He also has a good beard, big heart and big tank, and as already mentioned,he seems to fight at his best when faced with adversity.
