I'm hearing the ring canvas will be a 3G surface!.

Billy Nelson on hearing the news 'Well it's a step forward for the sport, This will prevent shin splints and lessen damage on joints. Nothing better then getting the small black bits between your toes. Love it when you take your trainers off and empty them out kinda get a tantric feeling...'

    We've heard two stories.

1 from Billy Nelson who claimed Burns battered Mitchell in sparring for two days running. The other was from Mitchell's camp who claimed Burns had the better of day one, but Mitchell had the better of day two.

I honestly wasn't there, so I don't know the truth. All I know is Mitchell really wants the fight, and Burns and Billy seem to want to go down a different route (Rios' name has been mentioned.)

I was told a while ago that the fight was all but signed, and will take place at the end of July. I was even told a venue. I know I'm going to get called a liar by an unnamed Scottish boxing trainer who posts on here, but that is genuinely what I have been told

Well Rios is all wrong for Burns if Burns sat on the ropes againts Rios like he did againts Katsidis he wouldnt last long i think the Mitchell fight is right for him so they should take it then go and fight Rios in the States he needs to clear up domestically like Clev did and Groves before going abroad chasing big names.

He doesn't need to clear up domestically at all, there's a difference between Clev, Groves and Burns. An obvious one.

yes he does questions are still being asked about whos the best lightweight in the United Kingdom so Burns has to answer them questions before he goes and eyes up world domination and chasing the mega fights with the likes of Rios Broner Marquez etc. Clev had the question mark of Tony Bellew hanging over him before he could go on and take on the worlds best(yes i know they havent chose to do so as of yet) and Groves beat Anderson,Degale, and Smith before he got the fight with Stieglitz

I don't think Burns needs the fight at all to be honest. He is a world champion, and can make good money in the US, especially if they clown Broner and then fight Rios

but wont Mitchell be a good payday one which he has a good chance of getting through then he can move on to the US with an even better reputation if he beats after Mitchell he did after all beat the man who beat Amir Khan.lol

Not really. A Mitchell fight won't boost his reputation stateside as no-one knows who Mitchell is there. If they do, they know him as the guy who was blasted out by Katsidis.

As for the money side of it, rumours were circulating that Mitchell wanted 50/50 (ludicrous demand, if it was true). On boxnation, it won't do massive numbers either.

All in all, it's a high risk low reward type fight for burns. I hope he takes it tho, as I genuinely believe Mitchell beats him

surely it will prepare him better for going to the US though if he does?
