Apart from looking and sounding like he's off Eastenders, who the feck is Kevin Mitchell? It's obvious he's fought cab drivers from Easter Island, I can see that for myself, but that aside how far can he go in this very tough division? Basically, does he have genuine potential if we look past the rubbish matchmaking What are his strengths/weaknesses?
there are some videos of kevin mitchell on FWs youtube page... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4-uE_bmh24 decent agressive heavy handed fighter, but not really beyond domestic level at the moment. good fight lined up against carl johanneson (another hard puncher) for the british title in january which will be his first step up in a while
Been 'around' for ages now. Was touted as a hot prospect, and he did look good in early contests, but hasn't moved forwards at all in last 1-2 years which isn't a good sign. Hasn't even fought for the British title yet!!! Not sure why though,he's good enough to win the British, maybe even the European someday. As for World titles, forget it.
i dont really rate him if you compare him to other fighters outside the domestic scene, hes never stepped up and hes record is padded as hell, iv always said that if mitchell was the real deal he'd have already won the ebu belt by now the likes of johennson and burns would have been done away with fights ago thats never going to happen who has he fought for you to make such a crude statement, even if he beat johennson it really wont change much if he stepped in the ring with khan, he's fooling himself if he thinks he can stand in the same ring as khan,
This thread has been helpful. I have only seen a couple of Mitchell fights and he looked good in those but it was against mediocre opposition. I often wondered how good he could be. It sounds like if he beats Johanneson he needs to push on.
Kevin is a very talented fighter. He was touted as a prospect to watch when he first turned pro but to be honest he hasnt really done that much since turning pro.He used to live next door to a friend of mine in Dagenham and he was always telling me how Kevin was bust blowing his money on cars.I guess Frank has probably made him comfortable. A couple of guys i know trained with him and spoke highly of him.His defintly got a chin and he can defintly punch. His hands are fast too.But after 20 plus fights its high time he stepped it up and came out of the comfort zone. But thats how Frank brings along all his fighters these days.
