Kevin Mitchell - worst chin in boxing?

Mitchell is a mental midget. He proved this with his excuses after the katsidis beat down.

 

Yeah, I can get on board with this.

But there are two components to "chin". There's the ability to take a shot without going down/getting hurt; and then there's the ability to recover from the shots that hurt or drop you. Based on what I've seen of Kevin, the thing that gets him into trouble is that once he gets drilled, he stays hurt. That seems to have been his undoing in both of his losses.

Still, I agree that if someone like Burns sits down on their punches (and that's not something he does that often), he has the ability to hurt another pro if the shot lands in the right spot; and he proved that tonight.

When you get finished 2 times inside 3 rounds vs C level opponents where just one of them is considered a puncher, you have a terrible chin

Mitchell had his moments in the first couple of rounds, but given how definitive the ending was- and how early it was, for that matter- there really doesn't seem to be much need for it.

Edit: I imagine the fight did good business, but do they (the promoters) think they'll be able to make anywhere near the same amount of coin if they rematch at any point in the near future?

 

You're right mate,and it's an absolutely ludicrous claim.
As has been excellently stated on this thread,any boxer is capable of landing proper hurtin bombs if certain elements all come together.
For people saying he's got a glass mandible just because Ricky doesn't have a high KO percentage,if Ricky got a clean jab on your chins,you'd be on your arses.
As usual,we can't celebrate a British boxer making a real statement without trying to denegrate his achievement.:-(

And those two don't have anywhere close to the worst chins in boxing. I ****ing guarantee you there are tons of guys who you'll never even hear of who have far worse chins than those two.

 

Because Mitchell is English. Same reason hes hyped so much above his class.

The commentary was ****ing awful, saying Burns had to throw more variety yet he was landing everything he threw. They where saying this 10 seconds before Mitchell got TKO.

Mitchell is not world class, hes just another over hyped English fighter.
