What happened to this ex-prospect? It seems like a decade ago since he beat Carl Johanssen and established himself. Then there was that win against Estrada in the States and since then... ? Has he retired? Found a more lucrative line of employment?
Probably in the pie and mash shop. He was supposed to be fighting Ricky Burns, not sure what happened there or what his plans are now. He has fought two non-opponents this year.
This guy really frustrates me, he should be getting a push but i suspect his attitude is maybe not what it should be .. Hes a good, exciting fighter who could be in barn-burning fights, win some, lose some but always giving it his all .. He's a guy i'd pay to watch and could go so much further than an artificial hype job like James Degale .. He needs to make some kind of move in the next 12 months to position himself for a World Title crack .. I never got excited over guys like Alex Arthur, i saw him for what he was even though lots of 'so-called' experts were saying he was 'the next big thing', but Mitchell and Frankie Gavin look like proper fighters to me ..
Arthur had a few good wins in his record. Mitchell has one win of Carl Johanneson and Carl should have retired before that fight took place.
mitchell is away working on his near non existent defence i think, he got peppered with right hands when he fougt on the last undercard, well it looked like that from were i was sitting anyway!
He had hand surgery which kept him out for the thick end of a year. He's fighting Ricky Burns on Dec 5th on the Khan/Salita undercard. A very live opponent in any man's language.
