Yes Rios did struggle to catch up with Acosta at the beginning, but that's a common scenario between any brawler and a mover. The first few rounds are always going to swing in the mover's favour. But it's what happens when that mover eventually slows down, that really matters. Mitchell moved well at times against Murray, but there were also times when he had to stand his ground and take shots. His back was pushed on to the ropes far too easily. Honestly, he'd get eaten alive by Rios who's better at cutting off the ring, hits much harder, takes shots better, and is generally a far more advanced stalker/brawler than Murray. But I do agree that JMM would be all wrong for Rios.
i'm not so sure. i think that mitchell has a great chance to beat rios. hopefully, we'll find out soon. rios seems to be getting a lot of hype here.. he's not super man for **** sake. he's a good fighter, but not great. very limited. he's strong and has a lot of heart. but how much heart do you think he'll have with a fighter who's constantly moving and hitting him with big shots? murray's never been hurt in a fight before, never mind getting shook up, dropped and knocked out. he had a great chin - but it was cracked tonight. same thing could happen to rios. you never know. lets wait and see how this unfolds. ****** was looking for the winner to take on rios... that's if rios accepts the fight. hope so. that way, it won't be talk... it would be a reality. write mitchell off at your peril. you could end up with egg on your face... wouldn't want that now would we?
All im reading is Rios this Rios that, ive not seen him fight, whats his style and are those praising him sure that his opponents arent just aload of hype jobs making him seem better than he is. If hes based in America, remember they get more chances and a shorter route to world titles. So please someone feel me in. TY
I'd be happy to wear egg on my face. I'd love it if Mitchell beat Rios. It's not that Rios is getting a lot of hype, it's just that Mitchell, quite simply, isn't on his level. It's crazy to think that by beating a limited Murray in a competitive fight, he's all of a sudden ready for a relentless, world class brawler who's on top of his game. And in that Acosta fight, he showed plenty of heart in dealing with a quick, mobile, hard-punching fighter. He was behind on points and hurt early on, but showed the courage, strength and power to catch up to his man, and knock him out. If he can do that to Acosta, he can certainly do it to a lesser man in Mitchell. And I seriously doubt that Frank.W, a man who has notorious reputation of protecting his fighters, will match Mitchell with Rios immediately. Despite what he may claim.
What your saying is a brawler is on a higher level than a boxer? How do you know that mitchell`s punch wont knock Rios flat like mendoza? One thing Mitchell did differently was hold, and his boxing on the back foot was good too. How do you know rios isnt just another hype job. Sadly American based boxers are always put above british due to hype in america and have a shorter rout to world titles.
He's like a lightweight version of Margarito. He has a poor defence - preferring to take three to give one. He relies heavily on a durable chin that, in my personal opinion, may get cracked soon. But in the mean time he's very effective at stalking and walking through shots that come his way. When he's close, he rips some nice, powerful combinations to the body and head. He has a very mean uppercut, as well as a pretty strong jab. He gained serious recognition with a very good win over the talented Anthony Peterson: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcLDP7xMVFY[/ame] He then won a world title against a very good boxer-puncher against Acosta, where he was behind and hurt badly early on, before relentlessly pursuing and knocking him out in the 9th. Great fight. You should check it out: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGSb7XyZ0FE&[/ame]
No, I'm not saying a brawler is on a higher level than a boxer. I'm saying Rios - who's dealt with much better fighters in Peterson and Acosta - would beat Mitchell - who's lost badly to a lesser fighter in Katsidis and has shown no evidence of being a world-level fighter, yet. And I know Mitchell's punch won't knock Rios flat like Mendoza, because Rios is a tough ******* that has a proven, world-class chin. Trust me. Go and watch the above two Rios fights, and you'll realize how easily he'll deal with Mitchell.
you think Acosta is a great fighter? he's decent at best. mitchell punches harder as well. Acosta has some decent wins on his resume, but that's it. mitchell knocks him out. oh, and FW is serious about a fight. watch this space. he'll be pretty confident in a mitchell win. might not be his next fight.. but the fight after that looks good.
peterson is a better fighter than mitchell now, hay? he's a load of crap. a complete turkey. a smoke screen. the reason for mitchell's loss to katsidis was that he didn't train properly. he was having domestic problems with his girlfriend. not good when you've got the biggest fight of your life. he's put that behind him now. murray had a great chin as well.. it was cracked tonight.
