I always thought he was related to Wilfredo? Correct me if I am wrong.

Nah he's Mexican, Wilfredo is Puerto Rican.

Don't think Burns needs Mitchell at if they don't fight burns just defends his title against another top 25 rated lightweight or featherweight else in-front of a packed crowd in Glasgow. Where as Mitchell goes where, is he allowed into the US because of convictions?

 

At the end of the day it will be a good fight, and will get people watching. I hope the fight happens, and both fighters get a good pay check at the end of it. I would prefer to see it happen in Scotland and think it will be a better atmosphere. England vs Scotland will sell the fight and make big money if promoted right.

The excuses made by Mitchell in the aftermath of his Katsidis fight showed him in a very bad light. If he was going through the problems he claims he was in the build up to the fight and knew they would effect his performance then he had a professional responsibility to withdraw and allow someone else the oppotunity. Someone who would be able to give it 100% and their best shot.

However, we're all made differently and whatever his reasons were, Kevin Mitchell still decided to go ahead with the fight and decieve not only himself but those of us who paid good money that he had a chance.

There is no doubt that there were serious issues in Kevin Mitchell's life around that time as these have been confirmed by people with no vested interest in his career and what I genuinly believe is that if he has a trouble free build up to a fight with Ricky Burns and is motivated on the night he has a good chance of winning.

 

I still think it's a load of post-disaster bollocks.

 

mitchell looked motivated anough during his ring walk against kats, even throwing in a cut throat sign to his fans. he was motivated and prepared alright, over confidence was his down fall that night, oh and not actually not being in kats class may have also been a big factor. i watched an interview where mitchell said he did the cut throat sign because he didnt feel right. i call massive bull**** on that one kev!
