Highly-touted puncher Helenius had notoriety as a future successor to the Klitschkos, & Chisora decisively beat him. :deal

Does G mean getting your collective ass beat by a couple Ukranian pretty boys? Between the two of them, 2 old Klitschkos, and 24 rounds, they won 4.

And I had that match in mind when I posted the words " galant losing effort or being the victim of the occasional robbery." Helenius was touted as a good prospect with potential, but I don't think getting robbed against Helenius should some up Chisora's potential or abilities.. He has work to do and not much time to do it.

I agree, he needs to get his ass into gear for the next 2 years & fight regularly against known-names only.

Haye, Adamek, Fury II, Helenius II, Arreola, Thompson... all very good fights for Chisora to take. :!:

Apart from Tyson, which top-flight heavyweights has Rooney had any success with ?

I think Tyson was trained by D'amato, with Atlas as the second trainer, with Rooney the third guy, and the one to take over the reins. Rooney did a great job keeping Tyson on track and to the title and improving, but Tyson had been put on that track and groomed for years by D'amato.

Chisora fought well the other night for a guy with only 17 fights, I'm not convinced Rooney could help him any more than the trainers who got him where he is. Give credit where it's due - his trainers are doing a fine job with him.
    Inside the ring anyway.

Remember Kevin Rooney is based the gum of D'Amato a remote mountain small town called Catskill, many hours away from any real populace or facilities. It is very cold and Catskill is a small ageing population, almost compeltly lacking children. Kevin Rooney requires 100% spartan dedication to training. With no kids to train, Roooney's only chance of a top-flight heavyweight it one choosing to locate there. Now ask youself, who would want to live there in such a place and be 100% dedicated to training?

Teddy Atlas was booted from camp in 1982. Cus died in 1985. Rooney trained Tyson from 1982-1988. You say Tyson had been put on track and groomed by Cus, but if he had left Rooney in 1985 when Cus died to go with his ghetto buddies Aaron Snowell and Jay Bright, he would of went off the rails of dedication a lot sooner! Like how Tyson compeltely abadoned the Willie Numbers System for combinations developed by Cus and stopped sparring every day of training camps, when he hooked with the Don King Circus crowd on wannabe gangsta yes-men in 1989.

Chisora has been very badlyoverweight in a lot of his fights even the important fight with Tyson Fury. Hell even at 241lbs his is still a bit overweight (he should be (230 or 235max) and could benefit greatly from more stamina and workrate that derives from such stamina from being in better shape.

I don't believe that "peek-a-boo" hands thing that D'amato-disciple trainers use is as good as the way Chisora has been taught or encourage to guard himself anyway.

Regardless of how many champions Kevin Rooney has worked with hes a qualified trainer that knows how to get fighters in shape. Hes a no bull kind of guy and knows boxing. He did a great job with Vinny Paz in his comeback. Brought Omar Sheika to his title shot against Joe Calzahge and taught Hasim Rahman how to box. He doesnt only teach fighters to bob and weave like he did Tyson but head movement and defense are just as important to offense.
Rooney, like D'Amato believes that a fighter should be exciting and bring a lot of pressure, but he also believes in being elusive and delivering that offense correctly. How many great fighters just walk into a gyms doors over the course of a career? Most of the trainers you see on tv didnt teach their fighters how to box, they took over for someone else that put in all the time intially.

Chisora is doing something wrong, hes lost three straight. I dont understand the fascination with boxers today. If you talk **** and sucker punch people your a thug and a G even if you get your ass kicked in the ring. :huh
