Do you think khan risks moving up to 147 in his next fight to try secure a super fight with Floyd?

If he hangs around at 140 it's inevitable he will face Garcia, Peterson or Mathysse which I think will end badly for him, ending all talk or chance of him ever facing Mayweather.

He could move up and take his chances with a fight with Alexander which is probably far more winnable than those fights at 140, if and it's a big IF he beats Alexander I think Golden Boy would try match him with Mayweather.

Personally if khan moved up to 147, I would far rather him in with say a Victor Ortiz, from a neutral point of view I think it would be a far far better fight than him in with Alexander.

140 is a far more dangerous division than 147 right now,so yes I think he should move up.

Whether he will do well there is another story.

Hard to say because I don't know how comfortable he is making 140 these days. It's not really the division he's fighting in, but the quality of opponent facing him. There are people are both weights who'd likely destroy him, and some lesser guys that he could sneak past. Unless Mayweather declines massively, that is an un-winnable, career cash-out, fight.

If it lands him the Mayweather fight, I'd say good move from him.
But of course getting the fight only means that Floyd was looking for a big payday pushover, and would KO Khan easily.

I genuinely think he will get the MAyweather fight. He will go to 147.

That's why I think he will move up to 147 sooner rather than later, GB will know if he suffers another bad defeat against a Garcia or Matthysse there isn't really any room to manoeuvre Khan into the big fights.

There as well putting him in with Alexander at 147 with a title on the line, it's a winnable fight for Khan and would put him in a good position to try secure a fight with Floyd. It's what Khan has been working for the last 2/3 years, a mega mega payday against Mayweather.

With his last fight his chin even more shaky and in his last 2 fights his power seems to had also less, these seems like signs of being tight at 140..

  10. Great point from darnie187

Something that isn't brought up very often in these dicussions on khans poor form

He had maidana,Judah and Peterson on the deck whilst looking strong if vulnerable
But now a lack of punching power and lack of punch resistance could be weight issues

I don't know why there's so much talk of him facing Mayweather, even now. The guy recently lost two on the spin and since then has faced Molina and Diaz. He's done nothing to make you think he'd have a chance with Mayweather. It might sell quite well but just looking at it from purely a boxing point of view where's the logic in this fight? Why should that fight happen as opposed to say Bradley/Rios/Marquez/Pac/Martinez vs Floyd? If he'd beaten Peterson, Garcia, Rios, Mattheyse, Bradley etc then fair enough you'd expect him to get a shot at arguably the p4p no1.

As for 147, yeah I think he should move up. I watched an interview of his on the day of the final press conference and to me he just looked drained and unhealthy. I know this isn't really any kind of evidence but it's just what I think. If I remember correctly he's spoken about 140 getting harder to make. Also looked pretty skinny at the weigh in. Maybe it's time once again to move up. Moving to 140 did a lot for his career and maybe he can get a second wind by moving up again. People will say there are bigger punchers but people said the same thing before he moved to 140. Yeah he's been hurt and knocked out at 140 but at 135 he was put on his ass by Limond. It's not like Khan is small at 140, and being drained is imo more dangerous. Move to 147, fight someone like Alexander. Get through that without being hurt, then maybe you can think about someone like Ortiz.

If you want KO power then Hunter isn't your man.

Khan really needs to beef up his legs, this could help his chin, balance, and power.. his legs are like twigs..
