This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected I leave it to you why this happening to these young boxers, both are non-white fighters, one is a Muslim maybe its because of this. Found this link on the General forum http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-bitter-spats-as-love-is-floored-1651232.html
Il put it in simple terms Both are loud mouthy ****s, with very little up top and backed by pricks, neither have achieved enough in the pro game to deserve such a huge billing, arrogence and ignorance are orders of the day with these prats. Its nothing to do with race. For all the decent things Khan has done there are negatives to cancel them out, while that DeGaule is a **** plain and simple. I like most hope for both of these media whoars to come to a sorry end in form of a KO or TKO loses.
Pretty much it in a nutshell. Why is it that every time someone dislikes a black/asian person the race card is brought out? I would guess that most of the black/asian posters on ESB dislike at least one of them.
I think a gold and silver in the Olympics deserves respect considering we were all cheering on both in the Olympics why not in the pro game. They can't help if there medals have raised them to stardom it's natural. DeGale might be 'mouthy' or whatever but he's trying to sell his fights as he doesn't fight with an exciting style unfortunately.
Amir Khan as an amateur was a humble kid & people originally warmed to him but once he turned pro he started to grow a mistaken belief in his own self worth (probably due to the people around him fanning the flames of his ego). Being mouthy & arrogant when you have only had a few fights against nobodies is just asking to be hated. James DeGale didnt even get a pro fight under his belt before he started running his mouth off.
Darren Sutherland doesnt get stick mainly cause hes not a ***** that cancels out the racist angle! i know it wasnt nearly as big as khans and degales debuts but he topped the bill in dublin in a 6 rounder. IMO if he hadnt been on that bill i would have stayed home that night (jamie moore had pulled out of the card and him and darren were the reason i bought a ticket)
The reason is very simple: a fair percentage of British sports fans are bitter and twisted ****s who revel in building up 'heroes' then knocking those same people down. See everyone for George Best to David Beckham, via Paul Gascoigne, Ian Botham, Lewis Hamilton... The racism angle is present, it seems to me, with regard to a fraction of the treatment that Khan has got from certain quarters, but is no means a driving force.
The media are at fault for a lot of the hype and subsequent hatred that comes upon our sportsmen/women. However, those that simply keep themselves to themselves and have little ego to speak of...... such as Chris Hoy or Rebecca Adlington for instance, are never going to be hated by a large number of people. I actually hated some of those listed above - especially Lewis Hamilton and Gazza, but I have always liked Ian Botham, and Linford Christie - who was also an arrogant ******* at times.
i could name 100 loudmouth fighters that we on to huge sucess in the UK and around the world. Mayweather, Hagler, Haye, Calzaghe, Jones Jnr, Tarver, Hopkins, Tyson, Ali..................the list goes on
The media seem to be wrapped around Frank Warren's little finger. They write absolute shite and spew unwarranted hype. Some papers have said that Khan massacred Barrera, slashed him up FFS! No wonder ppl who know about boxing get pissed off. Degale is fighting like Audley Harrison - southpaw stance, pawing downward to some midget with back of his right hand. No wonder there were boos. Continuing the Audley "right flap" - hardly good boxing is it. Look at Sutherland. Fighting like a pro, doing the business, throwing compact shots, showing some personality, saying how he wants to fight for a respectable title. Going on the Internet & interacting with - and updating - the fans. He can entertain crowds and he can talk properly in front of cameras. Sutherland is my kind of boxer.
Chris Hoy and Rebecca Adlington compete in sports that receive national attention every four years, if they're lucky (World Cycling Championships start tomorrow, wonder how many people know that, know where they are being held or why Chris Hoy will not be competing. A small fraction of those that watched Hoy compete in the Olympics...) This dynamic means that they are unlikely to ever be involved in the phenomenon mentioned.
Well the media likes to make stories out of nothing most of them know nothing about boxing so most make it up as they go along, They hear booing at the Khan fight "Ooh it must be because he is Asian", if they dug a little deeper they would found out that Barrera is a living legend in the boxing world so most of the people there were his fans, While I admit there may be a small minority of people that booed Khan because of his race most people booed because Khan was fighting a legend of the game. It should be taken the same way fans of one football team boo another because I dont hear people cry racism when the opposition is booed Let me put it another way if Barrera had been booed would people be screaming racism then, would we be seeing headlines of "Barrera Booed Because He Is Mexican", I really doubt it, people would of just said "Its nothing, Just a bit of 'Banter' between the fans" In Degales case he was booed because: 1) He is extremely Cocky and Arrogant 2) It was a Boring fight Its a shame that he was booed seeing as it was his debut but how that translates to racism I have no ideaatsch The fact the article tries pass off both cases as the makings of racism is beyond me, maybe the guy who wrote that article should talk to "real" boxing fan's and ask them why they think Khan and Degale were Booed it would be a real eye opener for him My last thought is this, Its a free country, the fans paid their money to watch both shows they are entitled to boo if they want, (within reason i.e not during national anthems and min. silences etc) Because if you are condemning booing during boxing matches shouldnt we doing the same when it happens in different sports?? Um I hope that all makes sense im usually a man of few words
All of the above had significant victories to sustantiate their boasts. Khan was saying that he was the best lightweight in Britain after about 10 fights. It's not even true to this day. Don't know why DeGale is getting so much ****. As far as I can see all he has done is fire back at some un-called for comments by Calzaghe, Haye and Eubank etc. We need to actually give him a chance to see if he can live up to his claims before slaughtering him.
its so sad to see that an explanation of fans dislike of a fighter be put down to the fact that "one is a muslim maybe its because of this"....... DeGale isnt a muslim but people still dislike him. it creates a bad atmosphere u even suggesting that. is it possible for you to understand that people just dont like the whole show around khan. much of the anger is toward frank warren/sky ppv and general media crowd that are ramming khan down our throats and telling is how good he is. ive found him increasingly dislikable since he got knocked out the whole hype/talent balance is so far off its unreal
I don't agree with booing during a fight full-stop. Not unless two fighters are purposefully stinking out the joint, ala Wlad-Ibragimov. DeGale was trying to fight, the other dude wasn't. Khan always trys to entertain. Both deserve at least a minimum of respect whilst they are trying to ply their trade. Save the dramatics for forums, newspaper articles or if we really must make our feelings known during the entrances.
