Is been said in the thread before but I agree that some of the hate towards Khan has slight rce/ cultural element but its nowhere near being the major factor and the booing of Degale as absolutely nothing to do with race.
Maybe not from yourself but so many people are consumed with envy in this country. They dislike successful people. I take your point about businessmen. I can't stand most PremierLeague footballers, but it has nothing to do with their wealth
Lucky Calzaghe never had that ref he'd have been DQ'd about 10 times!
It took a Donny ref to point out to deGale that he was punching like a southern puff :deal
It really does annoy me when people play the race card as though there's no other possible reason for disliking a fighter like Khan. Some of his fans are total charlie uniform november tangos, though of course it's unfair to hold that against him. I'm not his biggest fan, don't like some of his interviews or some of the stuff he's been up to outside the ring, he comes across as a bit too much believing his own hype, but I certainly don't hate him and did not boo him the other week, I was simply there hoping to see an intriguing fight between a young up and comer with something to prove and a past his peak but still dangerous veteran. As it happened, it was all a bit of an anti-climax. However, it's also unfair to hold his post-fight comments about not getting out of second gear (I wish he could say the same for his driving) against him. He was still buzzing with adrenaline and probably not thinking about being respectful to a great fighter.
Yeah, I do know what your saying actually. And I mostly agree. I just don't see the point in booing these guys, for simply just exsisting. If they do something blatantly wrong, then ok. But otherwise, people should just shut up or support fighters, instead of wasting their energy with negativity and hate.
That is the standard British mentality but not the general attitude of fans of the sport such as ourselves. Look at other up and coming prospects like Murray, Mitchell, Sutherland, Jefferies etc, they don't get the same level of criticism. Sure they have their detracters but on the whole they will have the support of the serious boxing fan. This is because they come across as down to earth guys who don't get engulfed by their own hype.
Wtf :huh? Wining the lottery is getting lucky and making a fortune. 99.9% of successful businessmen have sweat blood to get where they are and have demonstrated massive ability in the field that they have reached the top in.
Buisinessmen essentially have the same skill set as someone who fries fish in a fish'n'chip shop. The only difference is, the chip shop worker isn't quite as sinfully boring and benal as your average businessman.
Would have to agree. I've said since the Olympics that I think his style is too amateur to make it at the top level in the pros. He's still young and has time to make adjustments and if so I'll happily stand corrected, but just my 0.02 worth.
