Good point. It's bad enough whenever Khan fights anyway.

I can't get inspired by this fight now. The time was 3 years ago.

 

i assume if this takes place it would be at lightwelter, i can't see the point in murray fighting him unless there's a title involved

I wasn't shocked, he always does the same thing. This time however, he was in with the first offensive fighter he'd fought since Prescott (and a top fighter) so we got to see what improvements Khan has made in protecting his chin, and he has, although Maidana didn't have the nuances to finish him and Amir was able to get through based on sheer toughness. But really, he spent the championship rounds surviving and throwing the odd ineffective flurry.

I mean, what kinda' style does Khan employ? He's not consistent enough at mid-range to outboxed someone, as he always falls in with his punches. He isn't sturdy enough to be all-out offensive all the time, and doesn't have much power (probably due to his poor balance)

It's amazing he's getting through on sheer speed and athleticism so far, but e doesn't really seem to have a distinctive stylistic trait, he certainly doesn't seem to be able to make any real adjustments.

I'm not certain that Khan is that much of a boxer. People expect him to be because of his Olympic credentials but he was a fast-handed blitzkrieg then, unfortunately that style does not lend that well to the pro game because he can be buckled hard and gloves are smaller.

He has tightened his game up when he gets buzzed, no doubt an fair play, we know he has that now (though is still wobbly) but I actually think it's everything else, his 'game' so-to-speak that will let him down in the future IMO. He will be fairly easy to build a game plan for, he's one dimensional, doesn't have a big amount of pop and can be wobbled and rendered ineffective (bar some flurries without planted feet) well, bar pure handspeed, an iron heart and will and fast combinations, I can't realy put my finger on what is so good about Khan. Even the movement he has been working on leaves him trapped on the ropes and with him unable to set something up so they he can slide off (against a hard, persistant but ultimately very sloppy fighter like Maidana) and he faded for long stretches in the championship rounds. A lot of these things are not traits you find it many fighters competing at 'Elite' level, at least not those fighting there for long and going on to fight in higher weight classes.

Shame, with a good chin he could really be a force of nature. His handspeed is very impressive indeed, coupled with the size of his bollocks (huge)

great fight, murray hasnt beat anyone decent at lightweight and now he is fighting a big world class light welterweight in Khan. Easy nights work.
