It was entertaining as hell period. I just expected Khan's speed and combinations to be 10 x more dominating the way he was hyped. I also did not expect him to be so lacking in defense and ring smarts.

PPl talk about him like he is the next ATG yet he looks up and away and seems to draw a blank when he is against the ropes. Not too high up and the ring smart department and this fight only proved he needs some more work.
not to say he can't be great he just is not great right now.

people are hard on Khan. He is a hard puncher and he gutted it out and showed heart. Fast puncher and sharp. He needs a little refinement but he showed something good tonight. He didn't quit like Ortiz did, he is a real fighter. Give him credit.

Give a 4-1 favorite credit for doing what? The only winner was Maidana.
Fans not in the bubble want more Maidana. Maidana's stock went thur the roof and Khan needs to go back to drawing board.

I don't think if people believe the hype that is Khan's problem. Fact is he showed heart and skill and won a decision against what they called the hardest punching 140 pound fighter. He deserves credit. There is too much overrating on this board and then underrating later. A guy like Ortiz quits and he gets less criticism than Khan for hanging in there and showing heart.

Why it is wise to wait until you can see a body of work vs many great prime warriors before calling someone the next big thing. The Khan thing would make sense if it was 2 fights beyond this.

Maidana lost. He didn't do much for many of those early rounds. Khan is the winner here no matter how people spin the loss for Maidana. Had Khan landed that left to the body more I thought he could stop Maidana early with that punch. Everytime Khan landed a body punch Maidana would stop in his tracks and stop moving forward. It took all the energy out of him, which is why I was surprised Khan did not try it more. Khan is not experienced enough to know what punches to land, but when he does get experienced, well tonight showed he is going to be good. His chin is not great, but it is not that bad. If it was bad he would have been knocked out. He took the punches and that right hand punch well. He was hurt but he stayed up. Give a guy credit for heart. Who cares what the odds were, I saw comments on here that Khan was going to be knocked out easily. Well he wasn't. He won the fight.

I never overrated him other people did. My point is he had a good win tonight. Showed heart and edged out a decision and people are saying Maidana is the winner. Khan is the winner. The experience he gained and the confidence of not going down when he was hit clean. I never said he was an ATG already and the stuff about Roach being a great trainer is overrated, Roach just has good fighters in his corner. As a matter of fact I think Roach missed something if he didn't tell Khan to land more body punches since he would have stopped Maidana if he did. But this fight for Khan was great for him. He is going to be a better fighter after this.

We shall see. I just don't think ring instincts like this you can teach. Maidana is just a machine. Khan has nice skills but lacking many important world class caliber assets.

maybe so. But if he gets experience and can put those fast hands and power to more economical use in the ring, he will be better. He won the percentage of punches 45 to 20 and people say Maidana won the event. Totally ridiculous. Khan won the event and the fight. I am not a big fan of Khan since he is still a young fighter who has not proven much yet, but I give a man credit where credit is due. He showed a huge heart and good skills . He won the fight.

Showed a huge heart by turning his back in a fight ?
He was supposed to outclass Maidana. This fight only put Khan back on planet earth. People talking about Khan's heart but yet his skills are nowhere near that of discussed before this fight. Everything was less then expected. It was not heart it is conditioning. All I can say he is amazingly conditioned but we knew that. We didn't know he has such a bad defense and very bad ring smarts.
