He is not totally drained, just tight at the weight, thats due to his hard training and contolled diet. Khan's frame should of be one of a 147 fighter. 7lbs should help with extra muslce/weight on legs, and better hydaration leading upto fight night.
You're comparing Kotelnik, a guy who fights cautiously and out of a turtle shell defense, a style which allowed Khan to completely dictate the pace of the fight and choose his time to attacks, to Peterson, a guy who walked Khan down for 10 rounds and landed crazy amounts of body shots? Sorry mate, but this is getting stupid. If Khan was to go up a division he would have to gain 12-14lbs of muscle in order to be the same size as his opponents. How is he going to do that?
Peterson walks at 165. He came in heavier than Khan, fight night as well. How is Khan who probably walks around no more than 155 drained and not Peterson ? And they are the same height. Khan will get murdered if he moves up, he belongs at 140 for now.
I am trying to give you an idea of his work rate. You talking pants now. After the weigh in oppoents dont really gain any muslce, the weight they gain is mostly hydration. Khan moving to 147 will allow mostly a 7lbs of pure muslce in a part of the body which needs it, him being his skinny legs. So say Khan comes bang on at 147, on fight night he should be close to 158-160 after rehyadraton.
Also Khan being a fighter with great hand speed but lacking real pop, by adding any weight/muslce to speed, being from stronger base(legs) should have good results.
It's not easy to add muscle/weight and keep your speed. Speed is Khan's #1 asset. To me that's a further reason he shouldn't move up.
I'm sorry Go Getta, but you're dismissing all boxing convention and standards just to fit in with your own view of Amir Khan.
Even if what you say is true, he won't be able to take the punches at 147. Secondly, how fast a fighter gets tired also depends a LOT on the pressure put on him. Kotelnik is not the same kinda of pressure fighter as Lamont, and as someone else said Peterson invested in excellent body work which wore Khan down.
Exactly. The idea that he is weight drained is ridiculous. As is the idea that moving up in weight will give him more power.
You keep equating skinny legs with no power.Tommy Hearns & Bob Foster were 2 of the hardest ever punchers. Power comes from technique more than anything, Khan, for various reasons doesnt generate a lot.
You obviously dont know much, you just keep mentioning Khan legs and how he will power etc Tommy Hearns had skinny legs and he was power puncher hitting 100 times harder thatn Khan!!! Its more about siting on your punches than it is about how skinny your legs are...
