Not true, I'm afraid, though I don't blame you for assuming this is how it came about. He was asked a fairly anodyne question and out it came...

:good Amir Khan is a nice guy i'm sure, but sometimes he comes across as a complete and utter arsehole! The LAST thing most of us want is racism rearing it's repulsive head. Khan's comments make him sound bloody racist!! He is not a "Superstar" because he has no right be!! When he is deserving, i'm sure he will be! Typical Khan, he thinks all should bow to him. **** off Amir!! Fight a hungry, talented, decent punching, right side of prime, world class fighter (There are plenty for you to chose from!!) then you may begin to consider yourself on the long road to superstardom!!!

:good He disgustingly played the "Race card" because he truly believes that he should be viewed as a superstar!! And because he is not, he believes it is because he is of Asian descent and not the obvious reason, which is because he has as yet, no right to be considered a superstar by anyone other than his deluded self!! Fight a genuine world class opponent Amir! Someone who is right side of prime and can bang (There are plenty about for him to choose from) and people may start to consider how great you are!! All he is going to do is alienate himself by speaking such divisive and antagonistic crap.

So now the whole world is against him?? For a start Amir, YOU ARE ENGLISH!!!! You were born here, you were raised here, maybe you hate this fact but blame your parents son!! As for the colour of your skin, it matters not a jot!!! So leave racism where it belongs please, in the past, hopefully never to rear it's disgusting head again!! That ****ing Frank Warren has a lot to answer for!! He has mothered this ***** so much (especially since Prescot laid him out in under a minute) that "King" Khan now feels that the whole world should recognise just how great he is!!! You want global recognition? Try fighting a world class, right side of prime fighter and not someone "Cherry picked" by Warren to protect you!

Good posts. Refreshing to see someone who obviously isn't a clown not pussyfooting about.

I'm sure there are loads of non-boxing fans who are racist idiots. But I bet almost all of the hardcore boxing fans who don't like him base it on the protection and hype combo.

:nono Out of order pulling the old soldier routine...they serve because they choose to do so, and this has got nothing whatsoever to do with whether Khan is a **** or not.

**In my experience the average squaddie does nothing but moan and criticise, its all part and parcel of unit cohesion.

Can't we move on from this?

He said a stupid thing that was offensive to most of us and served only to make those who do dislike him cos of his colour (there are some among the non-boxing fans I know I'm afraid) dislike him more. I'd rather not be like them.

He was in the build up to the defence of a world title defence, would have been nervous and edgy and said something stupid that he no doubt regrets.

Alan Minter said something racist years ago before the Hagler fight but said after that it was a stupid thing to say and he regretted it. When I think of Minter I think about his skills and wars (and bottles the ring) not one daft comment.

Get over it, still debating a silly comment two weeks later, I'll start a thread on Scott Harrison and the etiquette of not beating up your girlfriend.
