I belive they were in the same weight division back then where they not atsch I also belive Murray wasnt saying "Yeah me and Mick (Hennesey) can put Khan on my undercard :happy
So 5Lbs makes such a difference to a big bad lad like Murray...its less than half a proper weight division for **** sakes. In fact I'd have a fiver on Murray weighing more on saturday night climbing through the ropes than Khan did when in against Paulie.
''One he won’t be taking is Victor Ortiz. Why should he?'' And to think, over the last few months ive read article after article from Murray on how he can't get the big names, he's struggling with debt, no one will fight him. And now it's ''why should I''? ''Juan Manuel Marquez, Michael Katsidis, Humberto Soto – there are more than enough marquee names at lightweight for John''. The winner of Marquez/Katsidis won't fight Murray. Whoever wins that fight will be in line to fight the best in the world not an unknown Brit with very few fans, who will bring very little money to the table. Reading this **** makes me cringe.
No you're right I dont know why they dont cut out the light welterweight division all together and just have lightweight and welter :good
Exactly. He couldn't mention anything but Khan in the past but now Khan's matured into a decent champion he seems to have STFU.
''We understand would be an opportunity to fight a name in America, but how about Juan Diaz? He’s a name.'' That has to be quote of the year.
Any news on when he's getting a proper promoter? I see Mick Marsden knocking around all the time in Rothwell but I'd feel a muppet walking up to him and asking..... mainly because he's got no clue who I am!!
in your article you state that khan has never held the british or european title fair enough. But how many fighters in the Top 30 has Murray actually beat? i'm convinced there are fighters on his record that would fall short in the top 40 in the world rankings. So given the context winning the european and british titles isnt so praise worthy when the competition faced is sub-level.Murrays record is inflated, that ukranian who murray beat over the weekend was beaten twice by a former kickboxer that should tell you everything about his padded up record
Exactly. Winning the British and Europeon titles mean nothing when your fighting guys outside the top 50. He beat Gary Buckland for the Euro so that says a lot. Khan has faced a much tougher level of opposition. Even ***an is better than some of the guys Murray's beat. :rofl
John Murray well documented only had 24 amateur bouts and has boxed in USA ,Canada, small shows ,dinner shows and has got to where he is by beating who has been put in front of him , there is history of fights that never materalised and fell through , he is a honest hard working pro who some would say never expected him to win British or even European titles , but he has other British fighters hold European titles and have yet to beat world top 30 fighters as you say , every fighters dream is to fight for a world title and that is johns he is staying at lightweight and hopefully will get a shot at a title . Love him or hate him he is in a brutal sport trying to do the best he can ,
Thats what puzzles me. Only last month I read in boxing monthly that Murray was saying he couldnt get fights. Now he doesnt need them?
Murray just needs a breakthrough fight. Whether at 135 or 140. Just fight someone who people know. In the States, Germany, for short money - whatever. If it's Ortiz, great. Definitely a winnable fight for him in my opinion. But don't sit around at domestic level any longer. Step up, if you lose you lose, so what? Least he can say he tried!
