Khan Clash can wait

Murray needs to change camp. His team have zero confidence in him which isn't exactly going to help him. They've turned down numerous break through fights such as Prescott, An American on showtime, Khan (twice) and now Ortiz. Its clear they don't have faith in him.

 

You can understand why Murray's team are cautious about putting him in with Ortiz or any other light welterweight. If it was up to Murray, then I'm sure he would want to go in there with Ortiz.

Plus, he's said he wants a title fight before the end of the year. Whether Fat Mick (or if he signs with another promoter) can get him a shot remains to be seen.

Regarding Murray though, in the past he has mentioned Khan a fair bit, from when I saw some of his fights on telly he often mentioned how Khan wasn't even the best fighter in Manchester etc etc... fair enough though, its boxing its what you do.

Being a fan of Khan I struggle to warm to Murray, however his best bet would be to stay at lightweight, if he can make the weight comfortably. He should also have considered a new promoter sometime back. Been far too inactive at times, with a fair few fights which didn't tell us much.

If he wont fight Ortiz I wonder who Khan will choose for him to fight instead.

You havent answered my question. ok he works hard in the gym so do most boxers but the simple fact is hes fought no one, he won the british title against meager and meager was coming to the end of his career and only 1 fight prior to fighting murray he was struggling badly with a journeyman.
its pitiful for some1 with a 30-0 record has a career best win was against a 34-10 journeyman who'd lost 3 of his last 6 fights and was considered shot, i have no ill feelings towards murray, but i find it hard to fathom how any1 can claim hes had the hard route when there isnt even any1 on his record worthy of being in the Top 30.

 

I'm agreeing with Joe on this, Sorry but Khan's a world champion yet seems to talk to have turned his head from more pressing matters, John's radar's not set on him and hasn't been for a while yet Khan seems to be very petulant in his views towards John. Yes you had a bit of beef with the lad a few years back but time moves on and both are doing good things.

Khan may be a champion in the ring but he needs to act like one as well. I agree with some of his views on Murray at world level but they seem to be tinged with needle which for me is sad..especially when the world's Khan's oyster at present.

Khan is a Glass Jawed fraud who is going to get annihilated by Maidana.

 

Since entering the Junior Welterweight divsion, all of his opponents have been career 140 pounders. His next opponent is against a Marcos Maidana, a man who everyone accused Khan of ducking. If that's not sticking to his weight-class, then I don't know what is.

As for them being past their sell-by date....

• Kotelnik - Only months ago he have the much touted Devon Alexander a fight for his life. Many, including myself, felt he did enough to win
• Salita - Granted, not the best, but he was young, undefeated and in the best form he was ever going to be.
• Malignaggi - The 2 fights he had before facing Khan, he was rejuvenated. Had the right man in his corner, and looked the best he's ever been.

The fact is, just like Witter needed Hatton and Froch needed Calzaghe, Murray needs Khan. But the way he's going, he'll never get it. The Ortiz fight, as dangerous as it is, is a wonderful opportunity. Even a blind man can see that this is GBP's way of setting up a future opponent for Khan.

It's simple. Beat Ortiz, and you'll your hands on the man you've been wanting for years.

 

I'm going to break this down slowly. John Murray is the current European LIGHTWEIGHT Champion :happy Khan is the current LIGHTWELTERWEIGHT Champion :good So I see no problem with Murray not wanting Ortiz and wanting to fight Soto Marquez or Katsidas
