Firstly I think Khan deserves a lot of credit and respect for his performance last night. He's shown his technical ability in previous fights, albeit against lesser fighters, but last night he had a chance to show his improved punch resistance and has definitely silenced the critics (except on ESB where they're never silenced). The crucial part for Khan now is to be able to put together individual shows of defence, aggression and workrate into a combined performance, but that's possibly the hardest transition to make and will require a lot more work at the Wildcard. One thing is for sure: there is still a LOT of work to be done before Mayweather Jr. can even be considered as an opponent. Khan has a reasonable chance of unifying at 140, which would be a big achievment in itself, but Mayweather Jr. is another ball game altogether.
He needs at least another 3 fights, preferably 4. Rematch Maidana. Fight winner of Bradley/Alexander. Beat up Ortiz. Move up to 147 and whoop Berto. Mayweather in early 2012.
Mayweather is levels and light years above Khan. Mayweather is pure class in the ring. We don't even know how good he really is but Khan would not have a prayer to win a round.
To be honest, is anyone who says otherwise really worth debating? There are only 2 guys out there that people should be talking about when discussing Mayweathers future opposition...... Matthew Hatton and Cory Spinks.
Fight will never happen. Khan still needs more time to develop 4, 5, 6 fights and then he may'be ready, but Mayweather will be too old and will probably be retired for good by then.
this is why i can see may opting to fight him soon, he has the pulling power just not the skills, easy money and easy night for floyd
