Patterson was banged over 20 times in his career and Carnera went down 13 times in one fight.

Even Hall of Famer Frtizie Zivic lost more than 25% of the fights that he took part in

I don't think he's had a huge amount, not when you consider he's fought some very decent fighters in the last few years. However, we don't know how many times he's been dropped in the gym. If he was getting the kind of hard sparring under Roach like people say he was, then he could have been down quite a few times.

I'm guessing heavyweights back then punched harder than Willy Limond, and maybe the refs were a bit more laid back...

He is good to watch, but I don't want to end up watching through the cracks between my fingers like I have to with Enzo Mac...

I am so glad you said it Flea Man! This Khan fella is so deluded. Do you think he really believes the stuff he comes out with? He is now trying to make it out as if his performance against an aging Diaz who has seen better days was a great performance.

No, I think that Floyd was pretty fragile, but he had skills to compensate for his shortcomings.

The problem with modern day fighters, and its a disease that permeates right to the roots of the sport...people see a defeat of any sort as abject failure. Arguello lost 2 of his first 6 fights, one by stoppage, these days he would be labelled a bum, its ridiculous.

I would say, (with the exception of a very tiny amount of fighters), that if a fighter hasn't ever been beat then he's probably fighting the wrong opponents. Nowadays it seem as if a fighter's "0" is his most prized asset as far as the fans are concerned.

Khan actually came back a much better fighter after getting beat by Prescott. What concerns me now though is the fact that he is still getting battered even if he wins. I know it's boxing and fighters are expected to take punches, but Khan doesn't seem like he can take them safely.

Fighters who test themselves properly are always going to pick up the odd defeat, and sometimes to lesser fighters, **** happens. I loath and detest the attitude that most managers have with their charges now, and its discussed on here ad nauseum and with no sense of irony....Mapping a route to a world title fight with least possible risk. I can't understand whats wrong with British, European and then World, taking on all comers along the way. If you don't face the best (and maybe fall short occasionally) how the hell can you call yourself the best?

Khan did come back a better fighter after Prescott, the Kotelnik fight was virtually flawless...and compared to Devon Alexanders attempt against the same man, a near master class. I don't think that Khan is any more or less vulnerable than he was before. The problem is now that he thinks that he's a Mexican or Puerto Rican and fights accordingly. Thats not him. If he had held centre ring all Saturday night we wouldn't have all these threads now saying he's finished but we would be saying how boring and predictably easy the fight was. Instead of holding centre ring and using his tools correctly he insists on going walkabout and thats when everything goes pear shaped. I don't know how anyone can call Khan truly chinny after the Maidana fight and the 11th round against Diaz on Saturday, he ate so many shots that it wasn't even funny. He has great hand speed, has the heart the size of a lions, will fight anyone Im sure but he has **** footwork, falls into his shots and has absolutely zero defensive brains, oh yes, and he loves left hooks. Stick to fundamentals and his strengths and he has a reasonable future, try to fight like Camacho and he'll be dead by the time he's 30.

He really is great value for money though.

It was disputed, but some Frenchman was accredited with a KD against him early on.

I think this is a fair assessment.

I also think some people are writing Khan off way too soon. Diaz seems to have a nice second wind going for him career wise, and he should've beat a damn fine prospect in Shawn Porter last time around. He's by no means a bum. This isn't one of Khan's best wins, but it's a very good one. Amir easily has enough left to pick up a world title, be it at Light-Welter or Welterweight.

Please don't take my jokes like I'm mocking him.

I have much greater respect for Khan than I ever will Calzaghe.

Khan gets beat badly and he still wants the best, that must be respected!!

In Carnera's defence he was fighting Baer and badly injured his ankle after first knockdown.

Icemax I agree with your general sentiment but Diaz is way past his best and never that good anyway. This was not supposed to be a difficult fight.

That is why I'm writing Khan off based on it.
